Spyro reacts to trending video of him performing at Pastor Bolaji’s church (Watch)
Well-known Nigerian hip-hop performer Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, better known by his stage name Spyro, has responded to criticism directed at him following his participation in a church Christmas carol.
Musician and Harvesters International Christian Center senior pastor Bolaji Idowu was earlier shamed by Nigerians for inviting performers to his church’s carol service.
Spyro adamantly declared that he should be permitted to participate in church events since he is simply an ordinary person.
The “only fine girl” crooner claims that he has been serving in two departments at Harvesters Church for almost seven years.
He has declared that, despite his notoriety as an Afropop musician from Nigeria, he is a devoted Christian who regularly visits a physical church.
In his words, “I just saw myself, and Pastor B has been getting dragged because I did a drama ministration at church. Let me make something very clear!”
“I’ve been a member of Harvesters for well over 7 years, and I serve in two departments. The clip making the rounds on social media is off a drama I took part in at our annual carol service called Fantasia.”
“The Carol was completely free for all. The tickets were free! Because I am a celebrity, doesn’t that make me human?? I can serve God like the rest of you.”
“So please understand that I am human, a Christian, and I serve in a real church!”
