Teni opens up about life threatening throat infection.
Nigerian singer Teni recently shared her harrowing battle with a life-threatening throat infection that she was diagnosed with in July 2023.
Teni has bravely recounted her experience of being diagnosed with this serious throat infection while in the process of recording her second album.
In a heartfelt video that she shared on social media, Teni also announced that her new album, titled ‘Tears of the Sun,‘ is scheduled for release on November 17, 2023.
This year has seen many celebrities open up about their health challenges, with Tiwa Savage and Drake, among others, taking musical hiatuses to address their health concerns.
Due to recurrent episodes of temporary voice loss, Teni received medical advice that recommended a significant procedure to protect her vocal cords from potential permanent damage. In the emotional video, Teni shared, “Testimony Time. When you finally get to hear this album, I want you to listen with your heart, embrace it with your soul, and know that I gave it my all, speaking my truth straight from my heart, against all odds. ‘Tears of the Sun’.”
In September, Teni disclosed that she had to be hospitalized due to multiple episodes of exhaustion. She also underwent a series of medical injections to address the aftermath of the throat infection. Fortunately, by October, she had regained her voice. ‘Tears of the Sun‘ represents an album filled with gratitude, reflecting Teni’s journey of overcoming significant health challenges.
