Nigerian Afrobeats singer, Mayorkun, has sparked reactions online by mentioning Olamide as the artist who inspires him in terms of songwriting. In a video shared on Snapchat, Mayorkun freestyled and credited Olamide, also known as Baddo, for influencing his approach to writing music.

The Mayor of Lagos mentioned that Olamide taught him that good songwriting doesn’t necessarily have to be in English, highlighting the YBNL boss’s impact on his songwriting skills. This acknowledgement showcases the influence and inspiration that artists can have on each other, regardless of their genre or language.

He captioned the video, “Na Baddo [Olamide] make me know say pen game no be by English o! IYKVK.”

In other news, Mayorkun recently discussed his new EP ‘Love for Free‘ and shed light on his musical style, which he refers to as Afro-fusion.

In an interview with Reality TV star Tacha on the Big Friday show, Mayorkun shared insights about his relationship status, the creation of his latest EP, ‘Love for Free,’ his connection with Davido, and his unique musical style. When asked about his thought process for the song ‘lowkey,’ Mayorkun revealed that he was in a dark place emotionally when he wrote the song.

According to the artist, “I was in a dark place because I had a little experience with some people, and I did not like how it turned out.”
