Singer Simi has recently spoken out against the remarks made by a female preacher who suggested that women should change their appearance by wearing wigs and ditching their natural hair to attract potential partners.

Her comments in response to the preacher’s statements have garnered attention and are trending.

After a video of the preacher’s comments went viral, Simi used her official Twitter account to express her disapproval. She argued that the preacher’s words promote self-hatred among women, which in turn can contribute to issues such as skin lightening through bleaching.

Simi emphasized that these kinds of statements about natural hair can negatively impact women’s self-esteem and make it difficult for them to love and accept themselves. She criticized the preacher for perpetuating harmful stereotypes and providing harmful advice, especially to young women, and called her a poor role model.

Simi’s stance on this issue highlights her commitment to promoting self-confidence, self-acceptance, and self-love among women and her desire to challenge harmful societal norms and beauty standards.

Her tweet read, “Even when you hide self-hate inside “good advice”, it’s still self-hate. This is why 90% of skin care products in countries full of beautiful dark skin girls/women are “whitening creams”. And girls are told that the hair that grows out of their hair is not special enough. It’s not that you’re not good enough, it’s that they said you’re not good enough. She’s on the pulpit too. A role model. Lol. Wetin God no send una, na hin una like to dey do.”

In response to the backlash and accusations of hypocrisy she received, Simi stood her ground and doubled down on her message. She asserted that people should refrain from telling women to change for the sake of others.

The singer’s unwavering stance underscores her commitment to challenging societal expectations and advocating for self-acceptance, self-expression, and self-love, regardless of appearance or choices when it comes to personal style, such as wearing wigs.

Her message carries a broader call for authenticity and for people to be true to themselves rather than conforming to external pressures or opinions.

“I’ve seen actual morons now imply that my point is moot because I have a blonde wig on in my avi. I’m hesitant to believe you can be this slow. But if it looks like red, it is probably red. Wear whatever tf you want. Just stop telling women that they’re not good enough as they are. And f**k you,” she tweeted.
