Odumodublvck unveils the message behind his mixtape ‘Eziokwu’.
Odumodublvck, the Nigerian hip-hop rapper, shared insights into the thoughts, beliefs, and spirituality behind his mixtape “Eziokwu” during an interview with Nandi Madida on Apple Music Africa Now Radio.
He also discussed the making of his song “Blood on the Dance Floor,” which features American rapper Wale and Nigerian singer Bloody Civilian and is currently number 1 on Apple Music’s Top 100 Nigeria chart.
In the interview, Odumodublvck emphasized his belief that music is a gift from God. He expressed that it’s not just about having the best sound, but that music is a divine talent given by God to bless humanity. He believes that music is a form of divine inspiration.
The rapper, also known as Big Kala, shared how his music reflects the current crisis in the music industry, where many young musicians have lost their lives.
He mentioned artists like Costa Titch, AKA, and Mohbad, who have pass away in 2023. This reflects the challenges and risks that artists often face in their careers.
Odumodublvck’s mixtape “Eziokwu” serves as a platform for him to convey his identity and culture. He does this by creating a unique blend of hip-hop and grime, incorporating street lingo to highlight Nigerian culture on a global scale.

The multi-award-winning artist expressed, “I was just trying to communicate myself and my environment, you know? That’s the easiest way to do it as an artist. When I was recording it I wanted people to know from the get-go that first of all, this guy is an African, and this guy is a Nigerian”.
Odumodublvck’s mixtape “Eziokwu” carries the meaning of “truth.” In his interview, he emphasized the global direction of Native Records and Def Jam, expressing the intent to take their music from Nigeria to Africa and ultimately to the entire world.
He views music as a form of gospel and is determined to share it with audiences worldwide. “Eziokwu” was released on October 6, 2023, and features a total of 14 tracks. It’s a reflection of his commitment to making his music resonate on a global scale.
