I used to sing for customers while selling fruits, vegetables – Ayra Starr
Nigerian artist Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, known professionally as Ayra Starr, has revealed that she used to sell vegetables and fruits alongside her grandmother.
The artist behind the hit song ‘Rush,’ made this revelation via her Instagram story, expressing her gratitude for her journey and progress. Ayra Starr shared that in the past, she would sing for customers who came to buy from their business.
In her post, she wrote, “[I] Will forever be grateful for where I am in life. God really blessed me. 6 years ago, this used to be me selling vegetables and fruits with my grandma, singing for whoever wanted to hear me. Now people are paying to watch me perform.”
Ayra Starr rose to fame in 2021 with the release of her debut self-titled extended play, which featured the hit track ‘Away.’ Her career took off after she was introduced as a Mavin Records artist.
In addition, Ayra Starr, has officially confirmed the submission of a project by her and her team for potential consideration at the 2024 Grammy Awards.
Ayra Starr is not the sole Mavin Records artist to have submitted a project for a potential Grammy Award nomination.
It has been confirmed that Rema, another talent from Mavin Records, has also submitted his work for consideration at the Grammy Awards. This demonstrates the growing influence and international recognition of artists from Mavin Records.
