- Son matches Shearer and Henry with EA SPORTS Player award
Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min has been selected as the 2023 Premier League Player of the Month for September.
The international from South Korea had a fantastic month, scoring six goals in only four games. He scored three goals in the first match of the month, a 5-2 triumph over Burnley, was scoreless against Sheffield United, and ended the month with two goals against Arsenal and one against Liverpool.
A Son-sational month for the South Korean! 🤩

Son has now won the title of Premier League Player of the Month four times, making him one of the elite few players to have done it repeatedly. His exceptional play has aided Tottenham’s successful start to the season.
“I only think about how I can help the team. When I do things that are necessary for the team, then I can gain a few things for myself,” Son said recently. “And I also want to make up for last season and show fans what I didn’t get to show them last year. I try to entertain football fans in every moment.”

Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou recently confessed that his faith in Son’s goalscoring helped convince him not to sign a replacement for Harry Kane.
“It’s not exactly why, but it’s one of the reasons,” he said. “I’ve got a picture in my head of what I want the team to look like and I keep saying that we’re still at the beginning.
“Sonny, whether he’s playing central or wide, has got all the characteristics. He can play in any system, but the way we play, he’s ideal.”
