Wizkid spotted at first public event since the loss of his mother.
Nigerian award-winning artist Wizkid recently made his first public appearance after a period of mourning following his mother’s passing on August 18, 2023.
The renowned artist, often referred to as “Starboy,” graced an exclusive event, marking his return to the public eye. He was seen attending the opening night of the private viewing of “Gabrielle Chanel: Fashion Manifesto” at the renowned Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
This event, held on September 13, 2023, showcased the remarkable creations of the legendary designer Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel, paying tribute to her enduring legacy in the fashion world.
Wizkid socialized with notable people at the event while admiring art exhibitions that were not yet accessible to the general public. At this time, Chanel couture clothes, textiles, photos, and accessories were on show.
The singer posed for pictures at the event, sneaking in a quirky face in one of them. The pictures have warmed the hearts of his devoted fans who are happy to see their fave out in public again, and mingling.

Big Wiz had maintained a low profile since the passing of his mother, Jane Dolapo, just a month ago. The heartbreaking news was initially shared by one of the singer’s close associates on August 19, 2023, revealing that she had peacefully departed in the early hours of Friday, August 18, 2023.
The announcement of her passing triggered an outpouring of sorrow, with numerous individuals paying their respects on various social media platforms.
In a touching display of solidarity, fellow celebrities also honoured her memory through social media tributes and some during their live performances.
Davido and Burna Boy, for instance, halted their performances to stand by Wizkid during the Afronation Fest. DJ Exclusive went a step further, observing a moment of silence for the departed during his performance at the Lagos State NYSC orientation camp concert.
Even former Anambra State Governor and presidential aspirant, Peter Obi, extended his condolences to the Joy singer via his official Twitter account, acknowledging the profound loss.
He said, “On behalf of the OBIdient family, I sincerely commiserate with Mr Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, (Wizkid), who reportedly lost his beloved mother. The death of a loved one is a very painful experience, more so for a beloved mother. Dear Wizkid, may God Almighty who called her home grant her eternal rest in His kingdom and grant you and your family the fortitude to bear her irreplaceable loss. God bless you always.”
