Nigerian Afrobeat and Highlife duo, Ajebo Hustlers defend Burna Boy’s contention that Afrobeat lacks substance in a tweet. Burna Boy has come under fire for making this remark.
Many people are not pleased with Burna Boy for making such a claim because they think he is using it as a sort of publicity to promote his record or he is attempting to westernize his sound, which is why he is making such a claim about Afrobeat. This genre helped him make his big break.
Recall, Mp3bullet reported that The African Giant in a recent interview, shared his thoughts on what Afrobeats means to him as well as how the artists under the genre see and work on their projects.
The afrobeats singer characterized the genre as having no substance because it essentially revolves around nothing except having fun.
He continued by saying that he, as an artist, is a firm believer in making music with substance because African musicians who make music with an Afrobeats sound don’t have real-life experiences they can discuss in songs.
In a tweet in defence of Burna Boy, Ajebo Hustlers claims that most musicians, especially those who are widely popular, produce music that lacks content.
They said: Be mad at Burna all you want!! Still don’t change the fact that half y’all favs make music with no substance..tbh that’s absolutely fair cause this is entertainment at the end of the day.but he’s saying the bitter truth.
