The Weeknd surpasses Micheal Jackson for highest-grossing tour by a Black artist.
Canadian singer, and songwriter Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, known professionally as The Weeknd is now the black artist with the highest-grossing tour, officially surpassing the late Michael Jackson.
The Weeknd’s fourth studio album, “After Hours,” was released in 2020. It featured several successful songs, including “Save Your Tears,” “After Hours,” “Heartless,” and “Blinding Light.”
The Weeknd reportedly made history when his “After Hours Till Dawn Stadium Tour” outperformed Michael Jackson’s 1987 “Bad Tour,” which brought in $311 million after accounting for inflation, according to Business Media platform Wealth.
The “After Hours Till Dawn Stadium Tour” by The Weeknd is said to have made over $350 million in sales after filling up numerous stadiums across the globe.

The Weeknd, a four-time Grammy winner, acknowledged his achievement by uploading a video of him performing Michael Jackson’s 1988 song “Dirty Diana” at a show in Belgium after the news of his new touring record broke.
He referred to Michael Jackson as his King in the video, which had the title, “My king. Then, now and forever. Rest easy.”

In addition, The Weeknd is one of the most commercially successful musicians in the world, as proven by the 106 million monthly listeners he has on Spotify, where he holds the record. With over 3.8 billion streams, his smash song “Blinding Light” is also the most streamed song on Spotify.
