Davido’s ‘Timeless’ named one of Billboard’s best albums of 2023..
Billboard has listed Afrobeat superstar Davido’s most recent album, “Timeless,” among the top albums of 2023.
The “Best Albums of 2023” list, which provides the top 50 albums of the year so far, was just released by Billboard. Davido’s groundbreaking album “Timeless” was included on their list.
Recall, On March 31, 2023, The DMW boss released his fourth album. The highly anticipated 17-track album came off the back of a rare quiet moment from the award-winning artist who has made a name for himself as Africa’s most formidable hitmaker.
A week after its release, “Timeless” has broken several local and international records across all five of Nigeria’s main music streaming platforms.
Timeless has earned the most debut week award across the top five streaming services in Nigeria, which is an exceptional indication of both the song’s appeal and Davido’s business savvy.
However, ‘Timeless,’ the sole Afrobeats album on the list, was regarded by Billboard as Davido’s best album to date and the most polished Afrobeats album of 2023.
Here’s what Billboard has to say about the album:
‘Coming from of the titans of Afrobeats, Davido’s latest album is a masterpiece of the umbrella genre, incorporating Afropop, dancehall, high life, amapiano and hip-hop into the mix for a statement project that is arguably the finest of his career.
The textures and production tie the album together and make it flow seamlessly through its milieu of styles without any feeling out of place. There are moments of true beauty as well, like on the Morravey-assisted “In the Garden,” “Na Money” with The Cavemen and Angélique Kidjo and the standout “No Competition” with Asake. It is, simply, the most accomplished Afrobeats album of 2023 thus far’.
