I know 3 Nigerian celebrities who have felony charges – Seun Kuti.
Seun Kuti, an award-winning singer of Afrobeat, has called the most recent assault on a police officer that placed him in prison a “misdemeanour charge.”
This was said by the artist recently during a fan-interactive Instagram live session.
Kuti slammed the people who were criticizing him on social media for assaulting a police officer, claiming that fans had never criticized other Nigerian superstars who had been charged with felony.
Instead, he claimed, they support and applaud such nefarious personalities on social media.
He said: “I know at least three celebrities in Nigeria who have felony charges. Mine is a misdemeanour charge. Whether they talk as if heaven is falling and thunder is crashing, my charge is still a misdemeanour. If we are going to be just, assaulting a police officer is a misdemeanour. That is the charge I have.
“But felony charges—fraud, assault, rape—you people come online, and you fight for these people with felony charges. Real criminals.”
In the future, Kuti promised to rent the National Stadium for a week in order to apologize to Nigerians for any wrongdoing on his part.
Recall, The State Criminal, Investigations and Intelligence Department, SCIID, Panti, Yaba, Lagos, held Seun Kuti for eight days before releasing him last week for attacking a police officer in a widely circulated video.
