Wizkid & Tems win big at the 2023 American radio awards.
The 2023 iHeartRadio Music Awards have announced Nigerian superstars Wizkid and Tems as the joint winners of the newly minted Afrobeats Artist of the Year category.
The Best Afrobeats Artist award went to the team behind the global blockbuster single “Essence.” They defeated other Afrobeats stars Ckay, Fireboy DML, and Burna Boy to take home the award.
Tems also snagged a second award of the night at the ceremony which was held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Monday.
The hip-hop song of the year award went to her “Wait for U” a duet with Future and Drake.

However, Taylor Swift, who took up six awards, including Song of the Year for “Anti-Hero,” was the night’s biggest winner.
British singer, Harry Styles won the Artist of the Year, while GloRilla tied Latto for the Best new hip-hop artist category.
Nigerian Mavins superstar Rema who was nominated for the Best Music Video category with ‘Calm Down’ which featured Selena Gomez, lost to Korean group, BTS.
