- ‘Please keep us in your prayers’: Costa Titch’s family speaks out
Only hours after learning of the rapper’s passing, Costa Titch’s family paid tribute to the 28-year-old. His real name was Constantinos Tsobanoglou. On Saturday, March 12, 2023, while performing at the Ultra Music Festival, Costa Titch passed away after collapsing on stage.
Costa, a singer and dancer, was born in 1995 in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, and is well known for his songs Nkalakatha and Activate. He has received numerous tributes, including from members of the music community.

The rapper and dancer’s family briefly state their sorrow over his demise and thank South Africans for their support.
“Death has tragically knocked at our door. Robbing us of our beloved son, brother and grandson, Constantinos Tsobanoglou (28), who South Africa had come to love and idolize under his stage name “Costa Titch”. We find ourselves having to acknowledge his passing at this time with deep pain. We are thankful for the emergency responders and all those who were present in his last hours on this earth. As a family, we are faced with a difficult time as we try to make sense of what has befallen us and ask that we be afforded the time and space to gather ourselves,” the family said.
DJ Zinhle, who just laid her ex-boyfriend AKA to rest, is among many who have most recently paid tribute to him.
The singer of the hit song “Umlilio” posted a heartfelt tribute to Costa Titch and AKA on her Instagram Stories. Rapper Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, better known by his stage name AKA, was fatally shot on February 10 outside the Wish Restaurant on Florida Road. The rapper and DJ Zinhle are parents to Kairo Forbes, a 7-year-old girl.
Along with Tebello Motsoane, AKA was slain. DJ Zinhle expressed her sorrow over the passing of both stars on her Instagram Story. She also uploaded several images of the pair.
“It never ends,” she wrote in an Instagram Story.
