Nigerian singer, Banky W has unfortunately lost his chances at winning the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives as the candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Thaddeus Attah has been proclaimed the victor by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The announcement was made on Sunday at the Collation Center of the Lagos State Model Nursery and Primary School in Marwa, Lekki 1. Prof Funmilayo Odukoya, the INEC Returning Officer.

With 24,075 votes, Attah defeated his rivals Mr Babjide Obanikoro of the APC, who received 16,901 votes, and Mr. Olubankole Wellington (Banky W), a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who received 18,666 votes.

“That Thaddeus Attah of LP, having satisfied the requirement of the law is hereby declared winner and is returned elected; signed by me. Thank you so much, “ Odukoya said.

She said that other candidates received the following votes: Mr Oladehin Olufemi, African Democratic Congress, 1,422 votes; Mr Azeez Kabirat of New Nigeria Peoples Party, 414 votes, and Mr Olasunkanmi Ololade, Social Democratic Party, 207 votes.

Before the presiding officer announced the results, there was chaos between the party agents and INEC officers regarding the validity of the result.

The agents, which included the APC and the PDP, refused to accept the announcement of the results unless their grievances were resolved.

The PDP agent, Mr Aderemi Adeshina, said that certain voters were denied the right to vote in various polling places in the LGA in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
