Nigerian singer, Speed Darlington has opened up on his relationship with Zlatan and how the “Zanku” crooner has been of help to him.
In an interview on the Be Grounded podcast, Speed Darlington joins Bond to discuss the growth of Afrobeats in America
Akpi as Speed is fondly called, also shared his thoughts on some Nigerian artists like Tems, Zlatan, Flavour, and Phyno.
He also spoke about his use of social media and future plans for his music.
The interviewer enquired into Darlington’s current state of relationship with Zlatan as the two have not been seen together in a while.
Speed Darlington disclosed that he and the “Zanku” crooner are still on good terms, even disclosing that Zlatan once came to his rescue when he had a gun-related problem in Lagos.
According to him, he was billed and called the rapper for help and Zlatan came to his rescue with law enforcement Officers.
Akpi stated that he and the rapper don’t talk every day but they are on good terms.

In 2019, Speed Darlington and Zlatan had a blessing bromance that quickly the topic of the internet. It started after Darlington made a video that went viral on social media, in which he hailed the rapper and expressed his interest to meet with him.
Zlatan in response travelled to the US where he visited the controversial singer and gifted him an iPhone 11.
The two also worked on a collaboration that year titled “In Love with my Hand” and later in December of 2019, The βIrregular Speedometerβ as he fondly calls himself came back to Nigeria after seventeen years in the US to perform at Zlatan’s βZanku To The Worldβ concert.
