Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ gets RIAA platinum plaque
Rema’s “Calm Down” remix has officially sold more than one million sales in the United States, according to a tweet from his fan account, earning it an RIAA platinum plaque.
The hit song was first certified gold on the 30th of November 2022 after selling over 500,000 digital units in the US before receiving its platinum certification over 2 months later on the 2nd of February 2023.
With a peak position of No. 6 on the UK singles chart and No. 28 on the Billboard Hot 100, the popular remix starring Selena Gomez has achieved significant international success.
The record, which was released in February 2022 as the lead single from Rema’s debut album ‘Raves & Roses,’ went on to become one of the best-selling Afrobeats songs of 2022.
The song has received over a billion plays across all platforms, and after he broke the previous record held by Ckay’s “Love Nwantiti“, it has also become the most-watched Nigerian music video on YouTube.

By earning a platinum certification for “Calm Down,” Rema will join CKay, Wizkid, and Burna Boy as leading musicians from Nigeria to have this honour.

Meanwhile, on February 4, 2023, Rema’s “Calm Down” remix climbs seven spots to No. 28 in the most recent Billboard Hot 100, up from No. 35 the previous week. The song has been on the charts for 21 weeks and continues to be very popular in the US.
