    Following a landmark achievement for Tems and Afrobeats at the 65th Grammy Awards on Sunday, February 5, 2023, fellow Grammy-certified artist, Yemi Alade, rushed to her social media channel to react to the win.

    Tems won a Grammy in the category of “Best Melodic Rap Performance” for her work on the smash song Wait For U by Future and Drake.

    This achievement was also celebrated by Yemi Alade who took to her social media platform to congratulate the singer.

    “Congratulations @temsbaby,” the Johnny singer wrote.

    ‘Wait for U’, a 2022 track that also features Drake, bested songs from other artists including Jack Harlow’s ‘First Class’, Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Die Hard’, Latto’s ‘Big Energy (Live)’ and DJ Khaled’s Beautiful’ to win the Gramme.

    Meanwhile, Burna Boy lost in the Best Global Music Album and the Best Global Music Performance’ categories.

    Meanwhile, Former Senate President Bukola Saraki also took to social media to congratulate Tems on her win.

    The former Senate president, in a tweet on his official Twitter handle on Monday, said ”Congratulations to the trailblazing Tems @temsbaby for making history as the first female Nigerian artist to receive a Grammy Award.

    ”Honored in the Best Melodic Rap Performance category for her amazing contribution to “Wait for U” ft. Future & Drake. Nigeria is proud of your success.”

    Even the current ruling party, APC ( All Progressive Congress) took to Twitter to write;

    Congratulations, Tems @temsbaby (Temilade Openiyi) on the Grammy award – a 1st for a female Nigerian artiste.

    Tems, won the award in the Best Melodic Rap Performance category for her contribution to the hit song “Wait for U” – featuring Future and Drake.
