Nigerian Songs with platinum certification in the US.
These are the biggest songs that have bagged Platinum Certification in the US.
The Nigerian music industry is witnessing a revolution in how music from the country is consumed not just locally but internationally.
Over the years, the ‘Afrobeat to the word’ movement has seen Nigerian artists as its biggest pushers with most of the songs now competing with foreign songs on charts and streaming platforms.
International certifications are a bragging point among Nigerian artists whose songs continue to dominate globally.
Wizkid, Davido and a few others made history after their songs bagged Gold certifications from the RIAA, one of the world’s biggest certifying boards.
Now Some Nigerian songs have broken the barrier by stepping into the realm of platinum certifications.
According to the Recording Industry Association of America, or RIAA, which advocates for music recorded or disseminated in the United States, as well as the people and companies who generate it, certification defines success in the recorded music industry.
Artists receive an RIAA Platinum certification if their single or album sells at least 1,000,000 copies as records, cassettes, or compact discs.
While each physical album and digital album count as one “unit” when sold, the RIAA values 100 permanent track downloads at 1,500 streams, whether they be audio or video.
