England won trophy at the World Cup after Argentina crowned champions.
Following Argentina’s triumph over France in the 2022 World Cup final on Sunday, England has taken home an award from the tournament in Qatar.
Les Bleus defeated Gareth Southgate’s team in the quarterfinals, ending the Three Lions‘ hopes of winning a significant tournament victory.
However, there was a minor reason for celebration for England fans after Argentina won the World Cup and presented the Three Lions with the FIFA Fair Play Trophy.
The trophy is given to the World Cup team with the best record in terms of discipline, and Southgate’s squad won all five of their games in Qatar with just one yellow card.

That booking was handed to Harry Maguire for a foul on Antoine Griezmann in the 90th minute of England’s quarter-final defeat to France.
England will now take the FIFA Fair Play Trophy home as well as a diploma, a fair play medal for each player and official and $50,000 (£41,000) worth of football equipment to be used for youth development.

However, the Football Association have confirmed that Southgate will remain England’s manager for Euro 2024.
Southgate has taken charge of England at three major tournaments and led the country to a World Cup semi-final in 2018 and a runner-up finish at Euro 2020.
‘We are delighted to confirm that Gareth Southgate is continuing as England manager, and will lead our Euro 2024 campaign,’ the FA said in a statement.
‘Gareth and [assistant] Steve Holland have always had our full support, and our planning for the Euros starts now.’
