Erik ten Hag provides an update on Marcus Rashford’s contract situation.
Manchester United Coach, Erik ten Hag has revealed that the Red Devils will exercise the one-year extension clause in Marcus Rashford’s contract.
The forward’s contract is due to expire in the summer, and Paris Saint-Germain has already stated that they would make him a sizable offer if he became a free agency before the start of the next season.
Rashford has also been associated with numerous other clubs under the guise that his contract will expire in July. However, Ten Hag stated following United’s midseason friendly against Real Betis that this will not be the case.
When asked whether he would be able to prevent Rashford from being drawn to PSG, the Dutchman replied, “I can’t answer that question. He has to make a decision.

“What we can do is to show him that this is the best club to be in, and it has to do with the culture of the club, but also in the way we are working together.
“It has to do with the way we play, the way we train, are we offering the right environment to progress further on and it’s also a financial issue as well.
“So, if we do that, if we can tell him about the ambitions and how we want to fulfil the ambitions, these talks we will have with him. Then it is up to him to make the decision. It’s one-and-a-half years [left on his contract] and he will be here [for that time].”
Rashford will return to the United fold in the coming days after England were eliminated from the World Cup in the quarter-final stage by France.
He scored three times while on duty with the Three Lions, including a memorable brace against rivals Wales in the group stage.
