Hugo Lloris expresses condolences to Harry Kane following his missed World Cup penalty.
Tottenham and France captain Hugo Lloris has expressed sympathy for club teammate Harry Kane following his vital penalty miss that led to England’s elimination from the World Cup.
While the Three Lions were trailing Les Bleus by one goal in the final minutes of the game on Saturday, Kane converted one of his two penalties but missed the other, shooting well over the crossbar.
As expected, France’s Lloris started in goal and excelled, making crucial stops to stop both Kane and Jude Bellingham.
After the game, Lloris took the opportunity to thank Kane for stepping up to take such a vital penalty kick in a statement to the media:
“There were a lot of emotions out there because we were in the middle of a battle and at the end we were all very happy. But on a personal level, I am also saddened because Harry is a teammate, a man whom I respect enormously and someone who took responsibility in a crucial moment of the game.
