Rapper K.O was the biggest winner at the annual SA Hip Hop Awards (SAHHAs), which were hosted at The Lyric Theatre in Gold Reef City on Tuesday night, despite the fact that Blxckie had the most nominations with a total of 13 in various categories.

The “Kwenzekile” hitmaker was anticipated to make up for last year’s awards, where Blxckie felt overlooked after taking home only one trophy (Best Newcomer), despite having a strong breakthrough year.

Instead, it was veteran rap artist K.O who won the largest prizes of the night, including Song Of The Year, Best Video, and Best Collabo. These honors were all given to him for “Sete,” the album’s record-breaking hit.

“Congratulations to @MrCashtime, @YOUNGSTUNNA_ZA and @Blxckie___ for winning the #SAHHA2022 Song of The Year pyramid! ????,” the SAHHAs said on Twitter.

Blxckie was the winner of the MVP prize (Most Valuable Player). Priddy Ugly won the award for lyricist of the year, and producer of the year went to Lunatik, who had a standout comeback year.

Maglera Doe Boy won Best Male, while Gigi Lamayne took home Best Female.

SABC1 tweeted: “Ladies and gentlemen, the winner for Best Female is none other than @Gigi_Lamayne. ???? Sicela nishaye izandla ????. Well deserved, right? #SABC1siON #SAHHA2022.”

After winning two prizes for Rookie of the Year and Album of the Year, Thato Saul, who was reportedly left off of the MTV Base Hottest MCs list, will be feeling much better about his year.

Meanwhile, Bontle Modiselle is over the moon as her hubby, Priddy Ugly recently bagged an award, the prestigious Lyricist of the year at the recently held SA Hip-Hop Awards.

Priddy Ugly went on a challenge to encourage hip hop stars to rap with his “are’ rappeng bafwethu” (literally, “let’s rap men”) slogan.

His efforts have paid off, as evidenced by the fact that he won the prestigious Lyricist of the Year title.

On Tuesday, December 6, the ceremony honoring people who have excelled in the field took place. Getting the honor is appropriate for Priddy Ugly, a self-described master of the written word.

In her caption, Modiselle said how proud she was of the rapper.

“Congratulations to the SA Hip Hop Awards Lyricist of the Year @priddy_ugly – a very well-deserved win! I’m incredibly proud of you ❤️,” she said
