Popular Able God crooner, Chinko Ekun has shared a testimony of how God came through for him when he battled depression.

According to the singer who shared his testimony at the Summer Jam 2022 programme hosted by the Founder of  Harvesters Church, Pastor Bolaji Idowu, he had one of the biggest songs,(Able God) in the industry, but everything changed when he lost his deal with his former label.

Mp3bullet recalls Chinko Ekun was signed to YBNL under the auspices of Olamide and the contract was terminated in 2020.

“I had one of the biggest records in Nigeria titled Able God… I was going for shows, everything you know was just, sweet. Before you wake up, they’ve booked you, going for political shows… They are paying you to do what you love to do, so then, there was a lot of money. I chop money!!!

“Skip to 2020, I lost my record deal, I had an issue with my record label boss, and it was so mad and he said I should leave the house, so i lost my deal, los the house…Because of the trauma, I couldn’t live where I used to live, so I came to the island, and I was squatting with some of my friends…

He added that he was depressed because he could not fathom why he lost all his deals, and at that point, everything he ever owed was crumbling.

Narrating how God intervened, Chinko noted he was squatting with Davido’s former PA, Aloma who’s apartment was in front of the beach at the Elegushi area of Lagos Island.

Then, one morning, he was prompted to go to the sea and thought to commit suicide, however, he reminded God he has not “bowed” to any other God before.

However, three months after the incident, Chino narrated he was able to record some songs, bag shows,  get royalty, new apartments and properties.

“I said God, all my life, I have never bowed to another God, I now started threatening God, I said if I bow to another God, na you cause am o, and you know in three months I was able to record some new songs, i got my royalties, i got like two endorsement deals from some companies, then i started getting some shows till i was able to get my apartments, my properties…”
