Wizkid Discusses the Upcoming Elections in 2023.
Wizkid has spoken out for the first time about Nigeria’s approaching elections in 2023.
Over the years, Wizkid has maintained his impartiality in Nigeria during election time. However, for the first time, the celebrity expresses his actual sentiments about Nigeria’s approaching elections in 2023.
In a recent interview with The Guardian, the Grammy winner discusses his real stance on the elections in Nigeria scheduled for next year.
He criticises the entire political establishment and threatens to “go crazy on their asses this election,” a reference to the impending vote in 2023. He also declares that he will not remain silent in the face of this outrage.
Wizkid expresses similar worries regarding the age of the candidates running for president of Nigeria.
His full statement read: ‘I’m about to go crazy on their asses this election. Buhari’s tenure will be ending for good, and of the four men vying to replace him, the youngest is 60. All these old men are going out of power this time. They need to go to an old people’s home and chill out’.

Wizkid also spoke on why he doesn’t feel celebratory about the country’s independence day anymore.
In his words;
“There’s nothing to celebrate, except that [Nigerians] are amazing people in music, sports, comedy – entertainment in general. I’m proud of young Nigerians doing things around the world in tech. I have amazing friends, doing amazing things. That’s it, though. There’s nothing else.”
Regardless of the country’s current circumstances, Wizkid is proud of his background and has “great aspirations” for Nigeria.
“I feel hopeful there’ll be change. How soon? I’m not sure. But a lot has changed from growing up to now. There was a time when you could never speak to the president or anyone in government like that. But now you have a voice,” he says.
