During his live press conference, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo refused to come on during their recent match against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Manager accepted full responsibility for the decision to drop Ronaldo after the forward refused to come on when asked against Tottenham.
During the closing seconds of Manchester United’s victory over Tottenham, Ronaldo stormed down the tunnel instead of coming on as a replacement, Erik ten Hag has confirmed, leading to his punishment of being dropped from the first-team squad.
Ronaldo won’t participate in United’s Premier League match against Chelsea tomorrow after Ten Hag decided to expel the attacker from his squad. The management of the club has fully endorsed Ten Hag’s decision, for which he has accepted full responsibility.
“I am responsible for the culture here,” Ten Hag said on Friday. “I have to set the standards and values and control them. We miss him tomorrow but it is important for the attitude for the group.”

Ten Hag said that the Portuguese international’s hasty departure from Old Trafford before the final whistle violated the “standards and values” he has established for his United players.
Speaking on Friday, Ten Hag said he had warned his players that there would be “consequences” if the behaviour was repeated and Ronaldo’s latest act of ill-discipline had crossed a line for the United manager.
When asked if Ronaldo had refused to come on, Ten Hag replied,
“Yes”.
But the incident was not the first time Ronaldo had left a match early under Ten Hag’s tenure, with the 37-year-old among a group of players who left United’s pre-season friendly with Rayo Vallecano at half-time after being substituted.
