Gyakie Shares Why She Insists They Were Paid At The Global Citizen Concert.
Ghanaian afrobeat/afro singer Jackline Acheampong, known professionally as Gyakie has shared why she insists that they were paid for their performance at the Global Citizen Concert over the weekend even though they weren’t given any physical money.
Gyakie has a different perspective and thinks they were paid even though they didn’t receive any actual money from it.
The artists who performed at the Global Citizen Concert confirmed there was no money payment involved and it was completely free.

According to Gyakie, she believes that they are paid because their craft was invested in as the platform given to them was so huge that the whole world knows about their craft and to her, that’s enough payment.
The Global Citizen show performance is enough exposure for Gyakie to eventually earn more money. It’s not as if she doesn’t want money or doesn’t want to benefit financially from her craft.
How on earth do we have a big event like Global Citizen and you assume everything is completely free? People worked on it for days to make this successful. When I say we were paid and every one on stage was paid I only meant that, there was investment in the performances.

We all believed in the cause and the change it’ll bring hence agreeing to be a part of it. Yes Global Citizen did not pay us for our performances but invested in our performances and made sure the team was good and comfortable.
