Former US President Obama Releases 2022 Summer Playlist With Burna Boy, Pheelz, And Tems’ Songs On It
Afrobeats, the largest musical export from Nigeria, keeps expanding internationally, and some of the genre’s favourites, including Burna Boy, Tems, and Pheelz, are included on former American president Barack Obama’s summer playlist for 2022.
On Tuesday, July 26, 2022, the former president of the United States of America (USA) published the list on his official Twitter account.
According to him, it’s an example of how music really can bring us all together.
“Every year, I get excited to share my summer playlist because I learn about so many new artists from your replies—it’s an example of how music really can bring us all together,” Obama Tweeted.
Burna Boy’s ‘Last Last,’ Tems ‘Vibe Out,’ and ‘Finesse,’ the global hit single by ace music producer Pheelz featuring BNXN (formerly called Buju), are the three songs by Nigerian acts that made the Obama 2022 summer playlist.

The chart-topping song “Free Mind” by Temilade Openiyi, known as Tems, made its debut on the Billboard Hot 100.
This week, the song debuted at number 90 on the top American chart as one of the new additions.
Billboard Charts announcing the news on their verified Twitter account wrote;
“@temsbaby’s “Free Mind” debuts at No. 90 on this week’s #Hot100.”
Though Tems has previously charted on Billboard Hot 100 with ‘Essence’ alongside Wizkid, ‘Fountain’ with Drake, and Future’s ‘Wait For U’ which debuted top of the chart, ‘Free Mind’ is her first entry as a lead artist.
She now joins Ckay and Burna Boy as the only Nigerians with a solo single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
