These are the top 10 Nigerian heartbreak songs needed to endure breakfast

Despite what is often said, love is an inherently lovely thing. When people discover it, their lives are made magnificent, and they are able to grin, and here are the top 10 Nigerian heartbreak songs needed to endure breakfast.

Breakfast in this context literally means colloquially, the slang means this life is ‘turn by turn’ and everyone will definitely have a taste of everything, especially heartbreak.

On social media, once someone says “he/she don chop breakfast” or “he/she has been served breakfast”, it simply means the individual’s heart has been broken

Top 10 Nigerian heartbreak songs needed to endure breakfast

    1. Not The Girl – Darey

In 2008, Darey released one of the greatest songs about breakups ever. In the late 2000s, the song “Not The Girl” was a major smash that ruled the radio.

It might have become a TikTok success if it had been released in this decade.

The emotional intensity was increased by phrases like “You’re not the girl I used to know, you’re a shadow of yourself, I suppose I lost you a long time ago.”

    2. Understand – Omah Lay

Many people are unaware that the popular song “Understand” by Omah Lay from 2021 is a breakup ballad.

The Nigerian musician was merely recounting a tale about how he went to great efforts to win the love of his life, giving her his necklace pendant and his final card, but was left ‘chopping breakfast’ and unable to ‘understand’ it in the end.

    3. Thunder Fire You – Ric Hassani
One of the songs that don’t require an introduction is the 2019 number-one song “Thunder Fire You.”

Because of his devastation, Ric Hassani resented his lover for giving him “breakfast.”

    4. Last Last – Burna Boy

The newest is “Last Last.” Burna Boy publicly dated Stefflon Don, a British rapper, before breaking up with him, which inspired him to compose a song about it.

When Burna Boy sang, “Why you claim I did nothing for you when I for doing everything you want me to do, maybe another time, maybe another life, you will be my wife and we’ll do it right,” it was clear that he was in pain.

    5. Don’t Call Me Back – Joeboy feat Mayorkun

In 2019, Mayorkun and Joeboy worked together on a song that tells a tale.

Simply put, “Don’t Call Me Back” is a song about a lover who still has feelings for the person who made him or her a “wonderful breakfast” and who threatens to hang up when the lover finally manages to move on.

    The narrative is incredibly relatable.

    6. Damages – Tems

The songs on the list thus far have been created by those who have received service. Here’s one for the “breakfast” servers (winks).

Tems was forced to serve her lover “breakfast,” probably in bed, because she was sick of being used as a pawn and couldn’t take any more “damages.”

    7. Out of Love – Chike

This list would be lacking if Chike’s “Out of Love” wasn’t included. His tale seems to me to be the tale of many others.

It has to do with being in an unknowing open relationship. Because she was in love with so many other people, Chike assumed it was an exclusive relationship and was unaware he had a number.

I felt a lot of sympathy for him after reading lines like “said I thought I was the only one, say na me you call your number one.”

    8. Bibanke – Asa

In the song “Bibanke” from her self-titled album, which was released in 2007, Asa talks about losing her partner, who was pretty much everything to her, treated her like a queen, and gave her the courage to face her fears.

In fact, no matter how favourable the circumstances turn out, “breakfast” may still be the outcome.

    9. Omoge Mi – Psquare
The Nigerian music duo Psquare detailed how their lover was having an affair with their best friend in the song “Omoge Mi” from their album “Get Squared” from 2005.

It served as a breakup anthem in the 2000s.

    10. Moelogo – Emotions feat M.anifest

On “Emotions,” British-Nigerian vocalist Moelogo teams up with M.anifest.

Even though Moelogo gave his lover everything he had, the song depicts how she played with his heart.

The line “You vow you won’t leave me, But you doing tha, You’re still doing that” effectively encapsulated Moelogo’s suffering.
