2Baba wonders why Idoma people can’t rule Benue State.
Innocent Idibia aka 2Baba has spoken out against a ridiculous perception that has spread throughout Benue State that seems to bar Idoma people from Governors of the state.
As it’s been with the legendary singer in recent times on sharing his ‘random thoughts’ on his social media platform, he wondered why his kinsman, a man from Idoma couldn’t govern Benue State.
The musician, who is from Idoma in Benue, Nigeria, used his Instagram stories to wonder aloud if there was legislation in place that barred his relatives from ascending to the position of governor of the state.
As he expressed his strange musings on social media, 2Baba pronounced this notion to be ludicrous.

“Abeg, I want to know which law is there that says an Idoma man can’t be governor of Benue. It’s becoming ridiculous. #2babarandomthoughts,” he wrote.
2Baba’s post comes after the Idoma people took to the streets of Makurdi over the weekend to seek the governor’s seat ahead of the 2023 elections.
The Idoma are the second largest group in Benue and occupy 9 LGA’s in total.
This include Ado, Agatu, Apa, Obi, Ohimini, Ogbadibo, Oju, Okpokwu and Otukpo.
Aside from the western parts of Benue, the tribe has settlements in other parts of the country, including Nassarawa, Kogi, Enugu, and the Cross River states.
The Tiv in Benue’s northwest and northeast senatorial districts have held onto the seat of the governor since the state was created in 1976.
