Residents of the Federal Capital Territory are set for a memorable crossover celebration as the 2Baba Foundation has announced a special command performance by legendary singer Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, at the Abuja countdown to 2026.
The New Year’s Eve event, scheduled for December 31 at Eagle Square, is being organised by Yankee Entertainment in partnership with Renewed Hope Youth Engagement and the Office of the Special Assistant to the President on Social Events.
It is aimed at ushering Abuja residents into 2026 with a blend of music, culture, and high-energy entertainment.
Known for its strong public collaborations and community-focused initiatives, the 2Baba Foundation described the performance as a gesture of gratitude to Abuja residents, citing the long-standing bond between the music icon and the city.
Speaking on the decision, the Foundation’s management said the appearance reflects its core values and belief in hope and positivity as Nigerians step into a new year.
“2Baba Foundation believes in positivity and the promise of the future. What we preach at the Foundation is simple: anybody can be anything at any time, and there should be no loss of hope regardless of the situation,” the statement said.
The organiser of the event, Mallam Yankee, also highlighted the inspirational value of the performance, describing 2Baba’s life journey as a powerful message to the public.
“2Baba’s story is a classic grass-to-grace narrative. Standing tall to perform for our people while ushering them into 2026 is inspirational and will go a long way in encouraging residents to embrace self-belief in the New Year,” he said.
Beyond 2Baba’s headline appearance, the countdown concert will feature performances from Magnito, Shoday, Fola, and Soundboi BME, adding variety to the night’s entertainment.
Activities are expected to kick off as early as 2:00 p.m., with a full lineup that includes live music, an MSME exhibition, a drift show, a children’s arena, and a colourful fireworks display to officially welcome 2026.
As anticipation builds, the Abuja countdown is shaping up to be more than just a concert — it promises to be a city-wide celebration of hope, unity, and fresh beginnings.
