Emiliano Martinez wins Yashin Trophy at 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony
Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez has been crowned the world’s best goalkeeper, winning the 2024 Yashin Trophy at the Ballon d’Or ceremony.
Martinez, known for his outspoken nature and elite shot-stopping abilities, became the first player to successfully defend this honor, having won it initially in 2023 following Argentina’s World Cup victory.
This year, Martinez’s outstanding performances in the Copa America played a key role in his success. Conceding only one goal in six matches, he was instrumental in Argentina’s triumph.
