    Mayorkun of DMW has won the Best Street-Hop Artiste of the year in the just-concluded 14th Headies Award, with the song “Geng“.

    He was nominated alongside Naira Marley, Olamide, Zlatan, Rudeboy, and Reminisce.

    However, Mayorkun‘s emergence as the winner has generated mixed feelings from fans on social media.

    While some have applauded and celebrated this achievement, others feel he doesn’t worth the award.

    Here are some of the reactions from Twitter;

    A Twitter user identified as @pepjunia congratulates Mayorkun for this feat.

    While the congratulatory messages poured in, here are some of the fans who think he doesn’t deserve the award.

    @Prof_aboki wrote; No no no Headies! In as much as I don’t like Naira Marley’s kind of songs, you see ‘Street Pop‘, nain get am. Any other winner outside him, na WAYO.
    Another user identified as @Al_Azucar is of the strong opinion Marley deserved it more.
    “Headies don start again!!…Naira definitely deserves street pop not mayorkun #14thHeadies.”
    Also, @MhiztarDeebee believes the rating wasn’t done accordingly.

    “Headies Trash Geng best street pop ke. This people no rate olamide at all Sha Even MAFO was a bigger hit #14thHeadies.”
    Further, even rapper CDQ is of the opinion that Naira Marley deserves the award more than anyone.
    He explained that Headies played politics towards the award-giving and with that refused to give the rightful owner Marley.
    In his words;
    “Headies una don start dis una obvious industry politics tins again… How d hell una go carry Best Street Hop give someone else at the expense of Naira dis yr and conscience no judge una.”
