This year, South Africans experienced significant loss as superstars passed away as well. Some of these individuals passed away from illness, while others died as a result of terrible circumstances.
Below are 10 South African stars who died this year, 2022.
1. MANDLA MAMPINTSHA MAPHUMLO
After suffering a second stroke, the head of the West Ink record label passed away on December 24 in the Durdoc Hospital in Durban Central. His wife Babes Wodumo and son Sponge Wodumo are his only relatives.
2. HECTOR
DJ Vintos Hector Ginimbi, a well-known SA Tik Tok personality, was shot and killed on Tuesday.
3. LEBOHANG QUITERIA KEKANA
The famous fashion designer died on the 17th of April after a long battle with cancer.
4. CHRIS KAZADI
According to reports, the actor was shot dead in Congo.

5. BUSI LURAYI
A few days after falling unwell, Busi, the star of Netflix’s How to Ruin Christmas, passed away at home in July.
6. DJ SUMBODY
The musician was shot dead along with his bodyguards in a tragic shooting in November by unidentified gunmen who doused his car in a hail of bullets as he was driving on Woodmead Road.
7. JAMIE BARTLETT
In May, the former Rhythm City actor passed away from a heart arrest. Many people were shocked by his passing because he was young and active before he died.
8. DEBORAH FRASER
The gospel singer passed away at Christ Hani Baragwanath hospital in May at the age of 56 after having a serious stroke.
9. DJ DIMPLEZ
Dimplez passed away on March 6 as a result of an unexpected brain hemorrhage.
10. TUMI TLADI
The South African rapper passed away in July after allegedly committing suicide.
