Sebastien Haller enjoyed his emotional return to competitive action on Sunday for Borussia Dortmund after his battle with testicular cancer.

Recall, A testicular tumour was discovered in July and the attacker had surgery to have it removed. The Ivory Coast international’s battle did not end there, however, as he had to have a second operation in November.

Haller joined Borussia Dortmund last summer, but his debut didn’t come until the 4-3 victory over Augsburg on Sunday because he needed surgery to remove a tumour.

After 62 minutes, the striker came off the bench to make his debut competitive appearance, taking Youssoufa Moukoko’s place. After the final horn, Haller carried his kid onto the field.

Haller will be hoping to play again on Wednesday when his club takes on Mainz in the Bundesliga.

According to reports, Youssoufa Moukoko has decided to sign a new deal with Borussia Dortmund, making him one of the highest-paid players in the team.

The 18-year-future old’s has been uncertain for a while because his current Dortmund contract is set to expire at the end of the current campaign.

The Bundesliga heavyweights and Moukoko had been negotiating a new contract, but they had been unable to come to terms because Moukoko’s representation wanted to make him one of the club’s biggest earners.

In the hopes of luring him away on a free transfer, Barcelona, Chelsea, and Newcastle had all kept an eye on his position. As reported last week, Dortmund had given Moukoko one final offer in the hopes that he would commit his future to the club.

Sources have now confirmed that Moukoko has accepted the latest proposal, which will see him earn around €10m a year including fees and bonuses.

Sporting director Sebastian Kehl confirmed in an interview with German outlet Kicker that an attractive financial package had been put to Moukoko, saying: “We have put together a very attractive offer that gives him a lot of room for development. That should lead to a decision. He has to make it with his environment and his advisor.

“Youssoufa can now accept this offer and commit to Borussia Dortmund – or we will go our separate ways. I would like him to choose us because he is not yet at the end of his development and I see potential in him. But there are limits for us as a club. And we have shown these limits. Now it’s up to him to confess in a timely manner.”

In this winter’s tournament in Qatar, Moukoko made history by becoming the youngest player to represent Germany at the World Cup. This season, he has made 22 appearances for Dortmund and scored six goals.

In an unexpected turn of events, Germany, the 2014 FIFA World Cup winner, fell to Japan 2-1 in their opening match of the tournament. Japan fought back aggressively in the second half of the game and scored two goals to win the game while the Germans were leading by one goal.

German player Youssoufa Moukoko’s World Cup career hasn’t gotten off to the kind of start he had hoped for. He entered this game as the youngest German football player to ever play in a World Cup.

Last Wednesday against Oman, Youssoufa Moukoko earned his senior debut for the German national team.

The Borussia Dortmund striker made history by becoming the country’s youngest representative since Uwe Seeler in 1954 at the age of 17 years and 361 days. Additionally, Moukoko became the fourth-youngest player to ever represent Germany.

Moukoko, a Yaoundé, Cameroon native, debuted for the German national U16 squad on September 11, 2017. He scored twice for the Germans in his second game against the same opponent two days later. He was the U16s’ youngest player at the time.

With just 14 Bundesliga appearances, Moukoko had a season to remember for Borussia Dortmund, tallying six goals and four assists. He was selected for the Germany team to compete in the 2022 FIFA World Cup thanks to his performances for Dortmund.

Germany, captained by Manuel Neuer, is drawn in the so-called “Group of Death,” which also includes Japan and countries like Spain and Costa Rica. Germany must win its final two games to advance to the next stage; else, they will have to wait for other teams in their group to have favourable outcomes.
