The Premier League has announced a 15-player shortlist of nominees for the Hall of Fame class of 2023.

Three of the players who were shortlisted will join 16 other players who have already been inducted into the Hall of Fame, according to the Premier League, which earlier this week announced that Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger had become the first managers to be inducted.

Arsenal legends Tony Adams and Sol Campbell, Manchester United legends Andy Cole, Gary Neville, and Rio Ferdinand, former Chelsea and England captain John Terry, and one of Manchester City’s most admired players, Yaya Toure, are among the contenders for the 2023 Hall of Fame class.

Fans can vote for the three players – who are only eligible if they retired before the start of the year – they want to enter the Hall of Fame, with the winning players set to be announced on Wednesday 3rd May.

The Premier League Hall of Fame was established in 2021, and eight players were inducted that year, followed by the induction of eight more players the following year.

Most of the greatest players in competition history have received the Player of the Month award at least once since it was first given out by the Premier League in the 1994–95 season.

Not all of them, though, as Dream Team FC proves by naming 6 players who could be considered their clubs’ stars but never were the best players of any taken month.

Here is the list of the top footballers who have never won the Premier League Player of the month award.

• Kevin de Bruyne:

Kevin de Bruyne has surprisingly never received the Premier League Player of the Month honour in England’s top division, despite being one of the league’s best players recently and twice winning the Premier League Player of the Season award.

• N’Golo Kante:

N’Golo Kante, unquestionably one of the best defensive midfielders in history, won the Premier League Player of the Season award in 2016–17 for his amazing performances for Chelsea this season. However, he has never won the Premier League Player of the Month award.

• Riyad Mahrez:

Since he joined the team in 2018, Riyad Mahrez has been one of Manchester City’s standout players, winning the Premier League, FA Cup, and EFL Cup in his rookie campaign. In recognition of his outstanding performances, he was named 2022 February’s Manchester City Player of the Month, but he has never taken home the Premier League Player of the Month award.

• Vincent Kompany:

The most notable centre-back in league history was Vincent Kompany, who played for Manchester City for 11 seasons and was captain for eight of those seasons. Additionally, he spent 15 years playing for Belgium’s national team, seven of those as captain. Throughout his time in the Premier League, he was unable to win the Player of the Month award.

• Yaya Touré:

Unquestionably one of the greatest midfielders in Premier League history, Yaya Toure contributed significantly to many of Manchester City’s victories.

He has played box-to-box midfield for club and country for the majority of his career and is regarded as one of the best players in the world in that position. Touré, who is considered to be one of the best African players of all time, won the African Footballer of the Year award in 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014.

Throughout his time in the Premier League, he was unable to win the Player of the Month award.

• Didier Drogba:

One of the greatest forwards in football history was Didier Drogba. He is best known for his time spent playing for Chelsea, where he has amassed more goals than any other foreign player and currently ranks fourth all-time in the club’s history.

In a poll of 20,000 fans conducted by Chelsea FC Magazine in 2012, Drogba was named the best player Chelsea has ever had. In 2020, Chelsea fans also selected him to be a member of the Chelsea team of the 2010-2020 decade.

It is shocking that Drogba, one of the greatest Premier League strikers ever, never won the league’s Player of the Month award during his time in England.
