The former Liverpool forward is expected to sign a two-year contract with the club after arriving in Türkiye to complete the formalities.

Salah became a free agent following the end of his memorable nine-year spell at Liverpool, sparking widespread speculation over his next destination.

While clubs from the Saudi Pro League were heavily linked with the Egyptian star, Trabzonspor have won the race for one of the biggest names available on the transfer market.

The move represents one of the most significant signings in Turkish football history. Trabzonspor publicly kept supporters updated throughout the process, confirming the player’s travel schedule and announcing that he would arrive in Istanbul before heading to Trabzon to complete the final stages of the transfer.

In a statement released by the club, Trabzonspor said:

“Professional footballer Mohamed Salah, with whom we have begun transfer negotiations, will be at Istanbul Atatürk Airport General Aviation Terminal at 12:00 on Wednesday, August 5.

“The player is scheduled to arrive in Trabzon on the same day in the evening hours. The time and other details regarding the welcome program in Trabzon will be shared with the public through our club’s official communication channels during the day.”

Reports indicate that Salah’s agreement is worth around €17 million per season, a package that would make him the highest-paid player in the history of Turkish football.

The ambitious deal underlines Trabzonspor’s determination to challenge the traditional dominance of the country’s biggest clubs as they aim to reclaim the Super Lig title they last lifted in 2022.

The transfer also brings an end to weeks of uncertainty surrounding Salah’s future. Turkish rivals Beşiktaş had been strongly linked with the winger earlier in the transfer window, but negotiations ultimately collapsed, paving the way for Trabzonspor to secure one of the most high-profile signings in the club’s history.

For Trabzonspor, Salah’s arrival is more than just a marquee signing; it is a statement of ambition. For the Egyptian legend, it marks the beginning of a fresh challenge after a glittering Liverpool career, with fans now eagerly awaiting his official unveiling in the club’s famous claret and blue colours.
