Tottenham Hotspur has officially secured the signing of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig on an initial loan until the end of the season. Spurs, in search of additional attacking options for the second half of the 2023/24 campaign, swiftly finalized the deal after initiating talks last week.

Despite an earlier inquiry from Manchester United this winter, Spurs successfully acquired Werner, incorporating an optional purchase clause reportedly valued between £13m and £17m.

Interestingly, Tottenham’s interest in Werner dates back to 2015 during his Stuttgart days. However, they opted for Son Heung-min instead, who has since become the team’s captain.

Werner moved from Stuttgart to Leipzig in 2016, establishing himself as one of Europe’s most promising forwards over the next four years. After a stint at Chelsea, where he contributed to their Champions League triumph, he returned to Leipzig for the 2022–23 season. Despite scoring 18 goals in 54 club games in the past year and a-half, he lost his starting position to Belgium’s Lois Openda.

Now, at Tottenham, Werner aims to bolster his chances of making Germany’s squad for Euro 2024. He could potentially debut for Spurs on Sunday when they face Manchester United.

Timo Werner has advised Christopher Nkunku ahead of his potential move to Chelsea. Werner has admitted that he will not give specific advice to Christopher Nkunku as he prepares to join Stamford Bridge in the summer, but that time and experience will be a valuable ally to the Frenchman.

However, Werner has cautioned that Nkunku should be aware that Chelsea is a different proposition than Leipzig.

Since 2021, Nkunku has developed into one of the most productive forwards in Europe. For Leipzig, he has scored and assisted on 76 goals in the past 18 months alone.

Although Nkunku’s signing to Chelsea has not yet been officially announced, mp3bullet reported in November that the last-minute details were being finalized for a July transfer.

The Blues made clear a willingness to pay slightly over a £56m release clause coming into play at the end of the season in order to secure the player ahead of time, with the knee injury that ruled Nkunku out of the World Cup with France ending any chances of a deal going through.

Werner already made the same move from Leipzig to Chelsea in 2020, only to end up heading back on a permanent deal just two years later.

“Everyone has to make their own experiences,” the German told Sport Bild.

“I had a very good first year, the second was so-so. I can tell [Nkunku] about positive and negative experiences should he change.

“At a club like [Chelsea], you don’t play like you do at RB Leipzig because there’s more competition – not just on a sporting level, but also on a different level, mentally.

“You have to deal with that and everyone has to find their own way. That’s why it’s the wrong approach to give tips to others. Time has changed me a lot.”

Coach Hansi Flick announced his squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup on the 10th of November 2022.

In anticipation of the 2022 tournament in Qatar, Hansi Flick has given his team newfound hope, and Germany is one of the favourites thanks to their World Cup history.

Despite dropping out at the group stages in Russia four years ago, Germany has been one of the most consistent national sides in World Cup history, with a triumph in 2014 alongside two semifinals and a runner-up spot since 2002.

With a balanced squad, including an experienced core, and some of Europe’s most exciting young players, Flick will be confident of repairing the damage of 2018, though late injuries to star players Timo Werner and Marco Reus will complicate matters.

Werner has been a regular fixture in the German side since making his debut in 2017. The former Stuttgart man has won 55 caps for his country, scoring 24 goals, and was a part of the squads at both the 2018 World Cup and the 2020 European Championship.

Formal Arsenal professional footballer Thierry Daniel Henry has explained why Timo Werner has struggled at Chelsea football club.

Thierry Henry believes Timo Werner struggled at Chelsea because he was lacking confidence and didn’t ‘feel the love’ at Stamford Bridge.

Werner joined Chelsea in 2020 after a £50 million transfer from RB Leipzig, where he made 89 appearances and scored 23 goals.

The German international was criticized frequently for his lack of output even though he won the Champions League and advanced to three Wembley finals while playing in west London.

Last summer, Chelsea agreed to sell Werner for almost half the amount they paid for him, with the 26-year-old returning to RB Leipzig on a four-year contract.

Werner has continued his impressive play from last season in the Bundesliga, scoring seven goals in 13 games, including the game-winning goal against Celtic on Tuesday.

After the game, former striker Henry talked about Werner’s comeback and said it is obvious he feels more confident and at ease wearing an RB Leipzig jersey.

‘I will call it confidence. You have players who don’t care if you put your arm around them. They will come, execute and leave.

‘Then you have some players that need to feel the love. They need to feel maybe that they are going to play for 90 minutes. The best example is the second goal.

‘First and foremost on the first control, Timo Werner would never have put that ball down at Chelsea, and then he would never have seen [Emil] Forsberg.

‘He would have rushed it trying to do something, overthinking it and overdoing it. I saw it before, he was calm before and he is calm again.

‘Maybe he would have shot [when he brought the ball down] because people said he can’t score at Chelsea – it gives you confidence when you score again. Then I see him pass it with his left foot at the right time.

‘Sometimes you go to some places, they don’t show you that love, I’m not saying he didn’t have it, but if he didn’t feel it like he felt it at Leipzig, then you aren’t going to be at your best and you won’t take the right decision.’

After leaving Chelsea last summer, Werner thanked the Blues fans for their support through ‘challenging times’.

‘Dear Blues, today marks the end of my journey with Chelsea FC,’ he posted on social media.
