A standout from his album Bhad Boi, the song’s popularity on the platform stems from its unique cultural fusion, which masterfully blends a modern pop sound with traditional Yoruba influences from Fuji music, exemplifying how artists are redefining Afrobeats through authentic fusion.

The song’s success is a perfect example of how the platform’s list reflects a diverse and vibrant mix of sounds. While Nigerian artists like Davido, Olamide, and Rybeena topped the charts with their high-energy anthems, the top 10 also saw an impactful mix of gospel-inspired hits, sounds from across Africa, including South Africa and Uganda that resonated deeply with the Nigerian audience.

These tracks found viral success on TikTok fueled by their high energy and memorable choruses for dance challenges and lifestyle content, perfectly capturing the creativity and vibrance at the heart of Nigeria’s youth culture.

‘TikTok is where music truly comes to life. It’s a space where songs are discovered, collective enjoyment is cemented, artists grow and opportunities open up in ways that weren’t possible before. What makes it special is the community, where fans, creators and musicians all come together to shape culture, and in this case, seasons, in real time. The Songs of the Summer show how powerful that connection is, and how TikTok continues to be the platform where Nigerian music can break boundaries and reach the world‘, says Toyin Mustapha, TikTok’s Head of music partnerships, UK, Ireland & SSA.

More than just a ranking, the 2025 Songs of the Summer list proves TikTok’s role in pushing a diverse mix of local artists and genres to the forefront. The platform is cementing its position as a cultural incubator, helping authentic and culturally-rooted music find a global audience.

With a proactive detection rate of 98.4%, which is content removed before it was reported to TikTok and 92.1% of videos removed within 24 hours, the report reflects TikTok’s continued investment in innovation, advanced technology, and expert moderation teams to improve enforcement systems that detect and remove harmful content before it reaches audiences.

With millions of positive, educational and entertaining videos uploaded on TikTok every day, TikTok is continually strengthening its ability to identify and remove content that goes against its Community Guidelines. The latest removals report represents a small fraction of the total number of videos posted by the Nigerian community quarterly; highlighting that the platform has more positive and empowering content.

In March 2025, TikTok also removed 129 accounts in West Africa tied to covert operations.

TikTok LIVE

While TikTok LIVE enables creators and viewers to connect, create and build communities together, in real-time, the platform has intensified its LIVE Monetization Guidelines, making it clearer how some content is not eligible for monetization.

LIVE content enforcement also remained a top priority. In the first quarter of 2025, TikTok banned 42 196 LIVE rooms and interrupted 48 156 streams in Nigeria that were found to violate the platform’s community guidelines.

A global system for localised protection

Globally, more than 211 million videos were removed in Q1 2025, up from 153 million in the previous quarter, with over 184 million removed through automation. The platform’s global proactive detection rate reached 99%, demonstrating continued improvements in identifying and removing harmful content quickly and effectively.

Despite these high-volume interventions, harmful content still represents a very small portion of what users post. Globally, less than 1% of content uploaded to TikTok is found to violate its community guidelines, a testament to its continued prioritisation of proactive safeguards.

Bringing resources to Nigeria’s community, together

In June, TikTok Africa hosted its “My Kind of TikTok Digital Well-being Summit” bringing together experts, NGOs, creators, media and industry leaders from across Sub-Saharan Africa, including Nigeria, to collectively explore, tackle, and improve the state of digital wellbeing both on and beyond the platform.

Part of a suite of announcements made at the Summit and building on a successful pilot in Europe, TikTok is expanding in-app helpline resources to Nigeria, in partnership with Cece Yara, a child-centered non-profit organisation prioritising youth safety and support. This means that in the coming weeks, young users in Nigeria will have access to local helplines in-app that provide expert support when reporting content related to suicide, self-harm, hate, and harassment.

Collaborating with experts, TikTok has also announced Nigeria’s Dr Olawale Ogunlana (Doctor Wales) as a TikTok Digital Well-being ambassador, part of a diverse group of verified healthcare professionals from the WHO Fides Network.

Alongside these efforts and commitment to safety, TikTok encourages community participation through user reporting and education. As part of its ongoing #SaferTogether campaign, the platform advocates for a more collaborative approach to creating a respectful online environment.

The Q1 2025 report reflects TikTok’s deepening efforts to safeguard its Nigerian user base, strengthen enforcement systems, and remain transparent about the measures being taken to uphold platform integrity.

According to Nota Baloyi, TikTok is a social networking app, that destroys marriages. He claimed that it made his estranged wife Berita crazy.

Nota Baloyi, a controversial entertainment manager and prominent South African Twitter user, seems to be having difficulty accepting the dissolution of his marriage to singer Gugulethu Khumalo, better known by her stage name Berita. The afro-soul singer gained notoriety earlier this year when she announced her separation from Nota, whom she also accused of abusing her.

The music executive continues to talk about his marriage and his estranged Zimbabwean wife online despite the fact that they split up.

Nota Baloyi, the ex-manager of Kwesta, is still talking about his wife Berita on his Twitter page and since the alleged abuse allegedly occurred over a number of years, the couple has been separated.

Berita spoke with Dineo Ranaka on Metro FM about leaving Nota after having to put up with his outbursts, on the other hand, he doesn’t seem to think he contributed to the breakdown of his marriage.

On Tuesday of this week, he accused TikTok of destroying his marriage on Twitter, meanwhile, he claimed that the software made his wife crazy and should be outlawed.

“Banning TikTok will save marriages… My wife lost her marbles on the app!” he wrote.

Nasty C uses his boxing prowess to shatter TikTok

Nasty C departed After showing off incredible boxing and sprinting talents at the gym, TikTok users astonished their viewers.

Following the posting of a video in which Nasty C demonstrated his boxing prowess in a gym, fans on TikTok flocked to the rapper.

While he observed people commenting on his boxing skills video on TikTok, Nasty C may not have anticipated how much it would trend. Fans have expressed criticism of him after observing his lack of sincerity in the sessions he had been holding. This was just a small sample of Nasty’s abilities in the ring.

Celebrity boxing contests initially started as a joke, but now they are spectacular. In South Africa, the boxing tradition is becoming more well-known as a result of Cassper Nyovest’s high-profile fights. Nasty C appeared to be getting ready in case he was asked to compete in a celebrity boxing battle.

Of course, Nasty needs to work out harder in the gym if he wants to compete against other celebrities like Big Zulu or Cassper Nyovest.

Nasty began by striking the punching bag with unprecedented force. Although it appeared that he had been dragged into the gym, it was nice. He performed some runs on a running machine after the punching bag. Yet, his amusing mannerisms are what won him so many fans by surprise.

The SMA hitmaker appeared to be cracking a joke with his followers. But as the responses show, it affected various people in different ways.
