American-Ghanaian singer and songwriter Amaarae is set to make history as the first Ghanaian artist to perform at the prestigious Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Her groundbreaking performances are scheduled for April 13 and 20, 2025, during the festival’s run in Indio, California, from April 11 to 20.

Amaarae, whose full name is Ama Serwah Genfi, has enjoyed a stellar 2024 that solidified her place as a global music icon.

Highlights of her year include a collaboration with American rapper and actor Childish Gambino on his ‘Bando Stone & The New World’ album and joining him on his ‘New World’ tour.

Nigerian heavyweight artist, Oluwatobi Wande Ojosipe, popularly known as Wande Coal, is gearing up to release a new music video for his song “Ebelebe,” which features superstar Wizkid.

On October 16, 2023, Wande Coal took to his social media platform to share a teaser for the upcoming music video of “Ebelebe,” his song in collaboration with Big Wiz.

This past week has been an emotional rollercoaster for the popular pop star, Ayodeji Balogun, also known as Wizkid. He recently lost his mother, Juliana Morayo Balogun, in August, and her funeral took place on October 12th and 13th.

The funeral service saw the participation of numerous celebrities and public figures who came together to celebrate the life of Juliana Morayo Balogun.

Wande Coal was among the celebrities who paid their respects and participated in the commemoration of Juliana Balogun’s life. To add to the anticipation, Wande Coal shared a teaser for the music video of his catchy song “Ebelebe,” which is part of his “Legend or No Legend” album, featuring Wizkid.

This album comprises 13 tracks and includes collaborations with artists like T-Pain, Fireboy DML, and Wizkid.

The  renowned artist captioned the video, “Ebelebe Boys Back Outside.” The music video was directed by JM Film Productions. The release date of the music video is yet to be announced. This is not the first time the two megastars have worked together, nor will it be the last.

Wande Coal’s unreleased song with Davido, which did not make the tracklist of his next album, has leaked on social media.

Following the release of the tracklist for his upcoming album “Legend or No Legend” by legendary performer Wande Coal, a video of the singer in the studio working on the remix of one of his biggest songs with 30BG boss Davido has surfaced on social media.

In the video, both of them can be seen working in the studio on the remix of the popular song “Come My Way.” When the tracklist was made public, many people were shocked to not find the song there.

However, this did not change the fact that the tracklist revealed that this would be a project that many fans would be interested in listening to since the album included collaborations with Wizkid, Olamide, and American singer T-Pain, to mention a few all present on the album.

The album was set to be released in March 2023, but the singer postponed it after Davido announced the release of his ‘Timeless‘ album.

The forthcoming album titled Legend Or No Legend was initially set to drop on the 30th of March, 2023. However, the project was shelved for April 7, 2023, but wasn’t released.

Nigerian singer and songwriter Stanley Omah Didia, known professionally as Omah Lay, has prompted reactions from fans after his NPR Tiny Desk performance emerged on social media.

Omah Lay’s struggles onstage reopened the discussion about a persistent problem in Nigerian music, where even the greatest musicians sometimes provide poor live performances.

The “Godly” hitmaker is not the first Nigerian musician who has had difficulty at NPR Tiny Desk. Recall Naira Marley and Zinoleesky’s disastrous performance of “O’dun” from Naira Marley’s debut album, “God’s Timing Is The Best,” at NPR.

Harry Styles, Usher, T-Pain, Alicia Keys, and many more international superstars have all performed on the renowned platform Tiny Desk.

The singer performed ‘Soso,’ from his debut album ‘Boy Alone,’ with the help of a backup band with whom he was not in rhythm.

Fans who tried to reconcile his gruff vocals with the flawless tune they all adore labeled the performance as awful.

T-Pain and Wande Coal had first given hints on Twitter that they were working on a song together on September 3rd, 2021.

T-Pain debuted his verse in the tune on his Twitch platform in a new video that just surfaced.

The story of how this happened could be traced to Nima Etminan, Vice-President of EMPIRE distribution, Wande Coal’s label, had submitted the song to T-pain, who delivered his verse and, in addition, provided some extra baselines.

While playing the track for Nima on Twitch, T-Pain credited himself for his verse, encouraging the Empire CEO to pair him with Wande Coal so they could relate directly.

Over the years, the ever-strengthening bond between the Nigerian Music Industry and the Global Music scene has seen a lot of hit collaborations being birthed.

As of recent, Justin Bieber’s unexpected feature on Wizkid’s summer bop, “Essence” had a lot of fans gushing at their chemistry and thirsting for more.

D’banj, Don Jazzy ft Snoop- Endowed

In 2012, D’banj surprised the world when he performed the unexpected by Featuring popular American rapper, Snoop Dogg on the Mr Endowed remix.

“Mr Endowed (Remix)” was undoubtedly the tune that paved the path for more international collaborations in Nigerian music.

This song was released in the summer of 2015 and featured Meek Mill, an American rapper. “Fans Mi” was the second song in Nigeria following “Mr Endowed (Remix),” to have a strong international attachment, as Meek Mill was featured on this song while he was still a popular artiste in the United States.

Wizkid ft Drake- Come Closer

After the success of Drake’s “One Dance” which featured Wizkid in 2017, “Come Closer” was released as Wizkid’s first single in that same year.

It was a huge song, one of the best songs of 2017, receiving constant radio airplay and becoming the fastest Nigerian music video to reach 1 million views (a record which has now been broken).

“Come Closer” is one of the most-streamed Nigerian songs on Spotify and still bangs hard when played today. Currently, its music video has surpassed the 100 Million views mark on Youtube.

Timaya ft Sean Paul- Bum Bum remix

Since his “Dem Mama” days, Timaya has been pushing the boundaries with Afropop and Dancehall. While he has a lot of hit songs, his first International collaboration with Sean Paul gave him an edge.

Featuring Sean Pual on the remix of “Bum Bum” which was already a hit song, amplified his music and earned him more audience.

Davido ft Chris Brown- Blow my Mind

Most of the time, Davido never gets it wrong with his international collaborations and ‘Blow My Mind” is a testament to that fact.

It’s worth noting that “Blow My Mind” has smashed almost every major record on streaming platforms since its release. It became the fastest Nigerian song to reach one million Spotify streams, the video has broken all thresholds of YouTube views records.

The music video which featured a cameo of Chris Brown also saw the song climb charts and dominate airwaves. “Blow My Mind” is a fantastic record with a great melody and vibe.

2Baba ft T-Pain- Rainbow remix

2Baba also have his share of good international collaboration. Although his earlier international songs with Beenie Man and Reggie Rockstone in 2008 had little impact, “Rainbow” with T Pain exceeded all available metrics and was a massive success song back then.

“Rainbow” is a hit song from the album Away and Beyond, and 2Baba opted to remix it with vocal aid from T-Pain, who gave colour to this gorgeous record.

Like the other songs on this list, “Beautiful Onyinye” is a hit song that boldly proclaims “Africa to the World.” This song like their “Chop My Money” hit overshadowed the original.

T-pain revealed a few weeks ago that a statement Usher made back then caused him to become depressed.

Later, he divulged that he and Usher are now on good terms, which Usher has confirmed.

Usher, who was covered Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players issue for 2021, discussed his decision to fly to Vegas, his progress on a possible Confessions 2, and, of course, his viral comments about T-Pain from Netflix’s new music documentary This Is Pop, in an interview.

“I’m happy that T-Pain said something. I’m not sure if it was before or after our actual conversation after I heard what was said. It was very hurtful to know that he had experienced that kind of hardship in life. I wouldn’t wish that on any person.

Medikal was among the tall list of world stars who stormed the multiple Grammy-winning star’s Instagram inbox for different reasons.

On the 29th of April, T-Pain shared a video screenshot of celebrities who have messaged him on Instagram but due to his limited understanding of how Instagram inbox works, he ‘accidentally’ ignored all of them.

The screenshot he shared included three Ghanaian celebrities, Juliet Ibrahim, Wendy Shay and Medikal, who messaged him a few months ago but had no response.

“I was today years old when I found out about the requests folder on Instagram and that’s full of celebrities trying to reach,” he said in the Instagram video he shared. “I’ve been accidentally straight up ignoring all these people for like 2 years.”

He said he thought the Instagram inbox shows only direct messages and didn’t have to go through message requests to respond to messages.

“Thought DMs are supposed to show up in the normal folder and don’t have to go digging for all these. I apologise to everyone on this list and the hundreds of others I couldn’t fit in this video. These are just the ones I haven’t checked and replied to. Yup…I’m stupid.”

He apologised again in the video caption, saying: “I swear!! I’m just now seeing all these messages and mentions TODAY!!!! How do I super apologize? Press conference? Townhall meeting? I’m dumb.”
