Swae Lee, an American rap singer, sparked reactions when he revealed that he is partly Nigerian.

Rae Sremmurd, one-half of the rap group Rae Sremmurd, revealed this while explaining why he added the Nigerian flag to a tweet proclaiming his intention to join the Amapiano wave, a South African genre.

Swae Lee took to Twitter on Tuesday to let fans of his intention to perform with the popular sound, but he included a Nigerian flag emoji, which irritated South Africans.

Evidently triggered by his tweet, South Africans trooped to his comment section to accuse Swae Lee of discrediting their country, where Amapiano originated from by wrongly crediting it to Nigeria.

Swae quickly responded, though, to clarify that his post had been misinterpreted. He clarified that the flag was only there since he is a mixed-race Nigerian.

He wrote; “For the ones outraged about the flag, I put it because I’m partly Nigerian. I didn’t say anything about the creation of the genre y’all tweaking.”

The Hip Hop singer arrived in Nigeria alongside Swae Lee a few days ago to shoot a music video with Nigerian musician, Lojay for the song ‘Coming For The Summer Time.’

Swae Lee, an American rap singer, sparked outrage when he revealed the expense of the Nigeria-themed whole outfit he recently wore.

He was being interviewed by popular content creator Egungun, who requested him to break down the cost of each of his clothes and accessories.

Swae Lee and French Montana arrived in Lagos last week to shoot a few sequences for their music video.

The rapper stated that they were working on a song with Lojay titled ‘Coming For The Summer Time.‘

During the conversation, the Rae Sremmurd member revealed that his diamond neck necklace cost $230,000 (twenty-three thousand dollars). Swae also revealed that his sneakers cost $1,300 and his wristwatch is valued at $30,000.

The ‘Sunflower‘ hitmaker also displayed his wrist bracelet, which he said cost $90,000, as well as his $175,000 10-carat ring. He also stated that he spent approximately $80,000 on tattoos on his body.

When all of Swae Lee’s clothes and jewelries are totalled and converted to naira equivalents, the total comes to around N430 million.
