With fresh nominations and recent wins still rolling in, Burna Boy’s tally is expected to rise further.

Also representing Ghana is dancehall star Shatta Wale, who ranks fifth with 115 awards, closely followed by his compatriot Stonebwoy, who has earned 107 awards throughout his career.

East Africa’s influence is felt through Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platnumz, who crosses the 100-award mark with 101 honours, highlighting his impact beyond the region. Ghanaian Afro-Dancehall star Livingstone Etse Satekla, popularly known as Stonebwoy, recently spoke about dealing with online attacks, attributing such criticisms to his success.

“Only successful people get attacked,” he stated, addressing the continuous criticisms, especially from fellow artist and ‘Ayoo‘ hitmaker Shatta Wale, who has been a frequent critic.

In his appearance on ‘Onua Showtime’ with Nana Ama McBrown, Stonebwoy discussed his approach to handling these tensions, explaining that he chooses to ignore negative comments and remain focused on his career goals. “What I do when I’m attacked as a musician is that I ignore the attacks and focus on the prize. I pray for divine discernment to know when to talk and when not to talk. What I know is that it is only a ripe fruit that will be plucked,” Stonebwoy shared on November 3, 2024.

With over 30 albums to his name, Daddy Lumba’s profound impact on Ghanaian music was celebrated throughout the evening, with each performer paying homage to his legacy.

Shatta Wale‘s surprise performance and heartfelt tribute to Daddy Lumba, echoed by other notable artists like Sarkodie and Stonebwoy, garnered a standing ovation, highlighting the enduring influence of these music legends.
