Afrobeats megastar David Adedeji Adeleke, who is professionally known as Davido has announced the extension of his contract with international record labels Sony Music/RCA Records.

In 2017, Davido became the first musician from Nigeria to sign with Sony Music/RCA Records. On the 19th of May 2023, he extended his deal with the company.

By agreeing to a lucrative multi-million dollar contract renewal with industry titan Sony Music, The DMW boss has once again accomplished a spectacular achievement.

The artist and his legal team, BFA & Co Legal, acknowledged the contract renewal in various tweets made on their social media platforms today, Friday, May 19, 2023.

This statement comes following the release of his fourth studio album, “Timeless,” which went on to break several records after its release on March 31, 2023, as well as the announcement of his “Timeless” tour.

On his social media page, he announced his global partnership with the labels, assuring his followers that the new deal will ensure he continues to deliver them timeless moments.

He has sparked excitement among his followers by implying that there may be more from him in 2023.

He wrote, ‘EXCITING THINGS COMING ALL 2023. I’m grateful to officially announce that I have extended my partnership with Sony Music Entertainment & RCA Records , so we can keep bringing you more TIMELESS moments. We don’t stop, Dey for who dey for you’.

The Good Time Album which happens to be Davido’s second studio album boasts of hits like Blow my mind, Sweet in the middle, Risky and many more.

The Good Time Album was released on November 22, 2019, through Davido Music Worldwide(DMW), RCA Records and Sony Music and houses a total of 17 tracks with vocals from top African and American acts such as Naira Marley, Zlatan, Peruzzi, Chris Brown, Popcaan, Dremo, Wurld, Yonda, Summer Walker, Gunna, and  A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie.

Also, a hit single from The Good Album, Risky which features Popcaan was recognized for going double platinum.

Blow my mind, a powerful collaboration between Davido and American Singer Chris Brown received recognition also for going Platinum.

Remember in 2018, Davido’s 2017 hit songs IF and Fall were also recognized after Fall officially went Platinum and IF went Diamond.

Davido who posted a video of him being presented the plaque was cheered on by friends and members of the DMW Crew.

During the grand finale of the Big Brother Reality TV show, Mr Real got the chance to perform to the excited crowd of live audience.

In a new development Sony Music Africa has announced the signing of Mr Real into an artist development deal. Also, the “Legbegbe” crooner by Mr Real earned a nod for “Best Street Hop Artist” the upcoming.

The entire nature of the deal between Sony Music Africa and Mr Real is not known, however, any updates on this developing news will be posted.

Popular rapper YCEE and his record label Tinny Entertainment have revealed their relationship with Sony Music Africa has come to an end.

It was on record last year that YCEE called out the GM of Sony Music Africa, Michael Ugwu for fraud and theft. It’s clear the once publicized Sony Music Africa contract with YCEE ended on a sour note.

As responsibility demands Tinny Entertainment have made an official statement about the termination of contract on its website. According to the press release the partnership ended last December.

Tinny Entertainment signed a license and distribution deal with Sony Africa for the distribution of some of YCEE’s music globally, in the hope that SONY AFRICA would take their music to the next level.

“We would like to state officially that we terminated our contract with SONY through our lawyers, Olaniwun Ajayi LP, by a letter dated 5 December 2017. Henceforth, we are the sole owners of the copyright in any and all of our music and can exploit our music on any and every platform. We have realized that it is best to undertake the distribution of our records by ourselves, as a Record Label and that Made in Nigeria across board, is the only way to be above board.”

As a Label, we are pushing out great music this year starting with “Say Bye Bye,” “I Wish” and our YCEE and Bella Collabo EP, “Late Night Vibrations.”
