In an interview with Punch Saturday Beats, Solid Star’s brother, Joseph, shed light on the factors that contributed to the singer’s declining career and subsequent mental health issues.

He revealed that Solid Star’s struggles with his career and personal life led him to turn to drugs, which eventually took a toll on his mental well-being.

Joseph expressed his concern for his brother’s situation, emphasizing the importance of providing him with the necessary support and care. The videos that circulated online, showing Solid Star wandering aimlessly on the streets, prompted his brother to raise awareness about his condition and seek help for him.

He said;

“I have spent all the money I have, and it has gone beyond me. I had his Instagram login details because I used to manage him, but got busy because of my job. I just had to log in to let his friends, fans and fellow celebrities know what was going on. It is better that way before videos of him on the streets go viral.

“His career always bothers him. He is not one to bother people by asking for help. But, he needs to go out there and meet with his colleagues, but he does not like to ‘link up’. I believe when one is down, one ought to cry out, and crying out does not necessarily mean begging. That was one of the things that really triggered him. It is making him depressed, and adding smoking to his problems made things worse.

I do not stay with him, but he smokes loud a lot, and hardly eats.”

He noted that the singer was now receiving and responding positively to treatment in rehab.

Joseph said:

“I know everyone has their problems but none of his colleagues have shown support. However, DJ Neptune called me to find out if it was a scam, and I told him it was not. He said he would call me back, but I have not heard from him since then. The only one of his colleagues who has shown support is the comedian, Isoko boy. It is mainly his fans and loved ones that have genuinely shown care and support.”

Solid Star, a Nigerian artist whose real name is Joshua Iniyezo, has once more recounted his near-death experience as a result of drug abuse and addiction.

The Delta-born celebrity shared on his Instagram page on Friday how his addiction to hard narcotics nearly cost him his life.

According to Solid Star, who opened up about his experience on Instagram, he almost died as a result of smoking, taking medications, and using ice. This comes two years after he got into a heated argument over his contract with his previous record label, Achievas.

The singer further warned his followers against doing drugs but added that those who find it hard to withdraw totally from drugs should switch to smoking only Indian hemp (Igbo).

“I almost lost my life because of ice, Pills and cigarettes

#stopdrugs if you can’t stop them all, smoke Igbo,” he wrote.

This is not the first time Solidstar is sharing his experience with drugs.

In 2019, Solidstar shared a post where he recounted how he had overdosed on drugs.

He added that the incident, which occurred a few days back, led to him bleeding.

The Afropop artiste also apologised to whomever that might have been hurt due to the incident.
“There is a thin line between life and death,” the Afropop artiste wrote.

“The incident that happened a few days ago showed how fragile I am by the overdose use of drugs that led to me bleeding in an attempt of a couple thought process. Sincere apologies to whomever i might have hurt ‘but hey love is the sweetest and slowest form of suicide.“

The songwriter, popularly known across Nigeria and Africa for his hit song ‘One in a Million’, went on to write on his Instagram page about the side effects of drug abuse.

Solid Star posted a video of him burning his contract with his former label, Achievas Label on his Instagram stories.

The ‘Shaba’ Crooner who released two albums, ‘One In A Million’ (2010) and ‘W.E.E.D’ (2016) under the record label, Achievas Entertainment left in 2018, which the label also claimed they ended their 10 years relationship amicably.

Recall that earlier this year, Mp3bullet had reported the story of Solid Star calling out his former boss, Ossy Achievas out on Instagram over unpaid royalties.

Ossy Achievas responded that he invested over 100 million on Solid Star but didn’t get the returns of his investment.

Solid Star countered back saying he had released hit songs while under the label and made over 200 million for the label.
