South African rising star Usimamane recently shared the story behind securing a feature from renowned artist Sjava for his chart-topping single “Uvalo.” The track has been making waves across the country and is part of Usimamane’s debut album 20th: Days Before Maud.

In a heartfelt post on social media, Usimamane posted screenshots of his conversations with Sjava, revealing the challenges he faced in bringing the collaboration to life. He admitted that the process took 11 months and at times, he felt discouraged.

“This was the first song I recorded for the album and the last one I finished. I started it last year, and getting Sjava to jump on it took nearly a year. There were moments when I was frustrated, even telling my mom that he didn’t want to do it. I was so upset, I almost gave up, but I didn’t,” Usimamane explained.

Despite the struggle, Usimamane used the experience to inspire others, encouraging his fans to never give up on their dreams. He also expressed his gratitude to Sjava for helping him create a hit song that fans love.

“The moral of the story is, if you really want something and believe in it, never give up. It feels amazing to be back home and to see how much you all love the song and the album. Special thanks to @sjava_atm and all my supporters—ngithanda nonke,” he concluded.

Sjava, the South African musician, recently shared his excitement about the growing unity and love within the country’s hip-hop industry.

Reflecting on the progress, he took to Twitter to highlight how far the genre has come since his 2018 concerns about the lack of camaraderie among Mzansi rappers.

In a tweet from 2018, Sjava expressed his frustration with the state of the industry at the time:
“There is no culture in our hip hop. We have ego and pride, with a burning desire to be the most popular artist. That’s the dream lately artists doing it for themselves and hiding behind the word ‘culture.’ Niggas don’t even get along, we pretend amongst each other. It’s all FAKE,” he said.

So many collaborations are happening, and that’s what makes the genre stronger and more entertaining. Beef kills momentum and stops progress. Have you noticed that every time a genre does well be it Amapiano, Gqom, or hip-hop it’s when there’s love and unity among artists? Once beef starts, everything crumbles,” he wrote.

Recently, Prince Kaybee disapproves of the way that sexual activities are introduced to young males. As a result of pressure from older guys, Kaybee described how he was exposed to sex at the age of 14.

The musician continued by criticizing older guys who pressure young lads into sex and taking to Twitter, the DJ wrote: “One thing I don’t wish for young boys is being exposed to sexual behaviour. Such a hindrance to the quality of their emotional and psychological development. Once that is compromised they are in hell and it’s the hardest task to get them back.”

“I had Sex for the first time at age 14 with a woman way older than me. The older gents motivated this, claiming I need to prove myself. Not one brother asked me what are my dreams and aspirations and encouraged me to focus on my talents or school, NOT ONE,” he wrote.

Lady Zamar discusses how she managed to live after Sjava’s rape case was dismissed, the singer filed a lawsuit against her ex-lover in 2018 alleging that he had raped her.

The Collide singer said that Sjava sexually assaulted her in 2017 at the Porche-Villa Hotel and Conference Centre in Thohoyandou.

“That morning, we were making out, kissing, and he had invited me into his hotel room. We had never been alone together, while this was happening, suddenly this person starts taking off my clothes and he raped me,” she shared.

She has, however, experienced a greater degree of cyberbullying as a result of the case being dropped for lack of evidence.

Zamar claims that she has survived by avoiding negativity in her conversation with ZiMoja.

“I block negativity. My mind has been trained to see certain cues from afar. I have people who work on my social media and they know when to block. I block negativity. I hardly see it anymore,” she says.

“My mom would advise me back then not to read the negative comments on social media and it took me time to understand that. Right now, I don’t care, you all can keep talking. Clearly, my life is interesting. If people remember their studies, more than they remember my business, then they’d be happier.”

According to Lady Zamar, this point in her life is one of self-acceptance. “I have had to do a lot of accepting. Lots of reflection,” she claims.

She’s to release a song later on that is rumoured to be motivated by the harassment she experienced.
