After a quiet stretch, veteran rapper Ice Prince steps back into the spotlight with (Testimony of Grace), a project that feels less like a comeback and more like a personal checkpoint in a long, evolving journey.

Ice Prince Returns with “Testimony of Grace” Album

This isn’t just about bars and flows. On this album, Ice Prince leans into storytelling, opening up about the road he’s traveled, the wins, the setbacks, and the moments that shaped him along the way.

There’s a strong sense of reflection running through the project, as he touches on survival in the industry, personal growth, and the role faith has played in keeping him grounded.

To bring the vision to life, he taps into a diverse mix of collaborators, including Niniola, Skiibii, Ria Sean, Sinzu, and Medikal. Each feature adds a different texture, helping the album move fluidly between hip-hop, Afrobeats, and more contemporary sounds without losing its core identity.

Sonically, Testimony of Grace settles into a mellow, introspective space. The production is clean and intentional—built on soft instrumentals and subtle Afrobeats influences that give Ice Prince room to speak clearly and directly.

There’s a noticeable maturity here; he’s not trying to outshine anyone or prove anything new—he’s simply telling his story.

Lyrically, that balance between confidence and humility stands out. He acknowledges his legacy while also admitting the challenges that came with it, celebrating how far he’s come without ignoring the struggles it took to get there. It’s this honesty that gives the project its weight.

In the end, Testimony of Grace plays like a statement of endurance. Not loud or overly dramatic—but steady, reflective, and self-aware. For an artist who has seen different eras of the game, it’s a reminder that growth doesn’t always need noise—sometimes, it just needs truth.

In the Nigerian music space, there is a list of rappers you might not know started out with different names, however, there’s no need to fret. Mp3bullet has put together a list of Nigerian rappers you didn’t know changed their stage names.

Ladipoe formerly (Poe)

6 Nigerian Rappers You Didn’t Know Changed Stage Names

He went by Poe prior to signed with Mavins Records in 2017. However, he adopted the name Ladipoe to circumvent concerns about copyright infringement. This is supported by a tweet from Don Jazzy, the head of Mavin Records, in response to the event involving another artist’s name change.

Olamide formerly (G-dogg)

The famous baddo we all celebrate today has had his own change in identity. He was formerly known as known as “G DOGG”. The name “G DoGG” was changed to Olamide by I.D Cabasa on the day Baddo recorded the street banger of devotion Eni duro.
Sinzu formerly (Sauce Kid)

In 2005, Sinzu debuted with the song “Omoge wa jo,” featuring seasoned musician Mike Okri. He followed up this breakthrough with hit singles including “Carolina” ft. Davido, “Under G,” and “Yebariba.” Sinzu officially dropped the name “Saucekid” on July 17, 2012, as he stated via Twitter.

The rapper disclosed the personalities represented by the names Sinzu and Saucekid in an interview with Hip TV’s Nancy Isime. According to him, Sauce Kid is more violent and a gangster while Sinzu is more approachable and Nigerian.

Show Dem Camp

6 Nigerian Rappers You Didn’t Know Changed Stage Names

The journey of this duo go way back to their youthful days. Tec and Ghost were both solo rappers until they ran into each other at a rap battleground and realized they shared the same stage name, “Golden Child.” Immediately after that, they teamed up to establish a rap duo under the ephemeral stage names Loose Cannonz, BlackBoysDown, and Third Eye Renegades before settling on Show Dem Camp. In addition to becoming record label owners, they have changed from being simply rappers.

Cheque formerly Kyle B

Cheque began his career as a musician under the alias Kyle B when he was still a University undergraduate. Gospel hip hop was in particular his musical style. As Kyle B, he contributed to Hennessy Cypher (Part VI), which featured artists including Dark Poet, Kursor, Blaqbonez, Toosleek, and Eclipse.

He also gained prominence in school with the name and released the extended play Super Adventure Crew. On his way to global stardom, he was discovered by Phyno in 2019 and his story became a national sensation.

MI Abaga to The Guy

6 Nigerian Rappers You Didn’t Know Changed Stage Names

He wrote, “After over 15 Years as Mister Incredible, I will be retiring the name ‘MI Abaga’ and taking on a new name for a new project because my new project is hard AF and deserves a new name,” he wrote. “My final act as MI will be a performance at The Vibe on the 10th of July, where I will celebrate my legacy as Africa’s Greatest Rapper. See you all on stage.”

D’banj is the latest artist to be arrested on the ground of fraud. In an exclusive report by Premium Times, the singer was arrested by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission, (ICPC) on Tuesday on charges of fraud.

The agency apparently summoned the musician in recent weeks, but he neglected to show up, claiming he was preoccupied with performances abroad. He was swiftly taken into custody by the agency on Tuesday as a result of his dubious behaviour.

The rapper is being questioned by the agency over his alleged involvement in the illegal misappropriation of funds intended for the N-Power project, an empowerment initiative launched by the Nigerian government in 2016 to combat youth unemployment and advance social development.

It is believed that D’banj conspired with some government representatives to add fictitious beneficiaries to the program’s payroll.

According to reports, it was discovered that the money transferred to these accounts was related to the Kokomaster, as he is affectionately known.

After a thorough interrogation session, the musician was remanded and his bail plea was denied.

The singer is yet to confirm the news or the allegations.

Even with this, some artists have gone ahead to change their names due to one reason or the other.

In this article, mp3bullet.ng highlights some Nigerian artists that changed their stage names.

In 2016, Nigerian musician 2face Idibia declared that he had changed his stage name. He announced his new moniker, 2baba, on social media.

He added that the name change was not shocking because many people had been calling him “2Baba” for a long time, and that it was only natural for him to alter his name to 2Baba because he is now a father “Baba” and a chief (Tafidan Kudandan in Kaduna).

After signing his mega-deal with Sony in 2016, Wizkid has been cautious with the songs released under the “Wizkid” moniker, using the ‘Starboy” moniker, a name that also represents his label instead369.

In 2021, he surprised fans after he changed his name on Instagram to Big Wiz. Although this name change isn’t official, fans have already started calling him by that name.

When you look back on Terry G’s career, you’ll see one major blunder: putting Mallam Spicey to the test with the lyric “me I no be Mallam Spicey, Me I no dey stop for the fourth bar over.”

in response, Mallam Spicey dropped one of the hottest and most blatant diss tunes ever in Nigeria on Terry G.

“1005 Naira (Free Cure)” was recorded entirely on the beat of Terry G’s hit “Free Madness” and was followed by a video ridiculing Terry G.

Unfortunately, we didn’t get to hear much from Mallam Spicey after this.

The song was a hit, not just because of its beat but because of its lyrics. Certain lyrics like “Tell odogwu say we like to party” suggested that the song was a medium to throw shots at Burna Boy who he allegedly had issues with.

Furthermore, the song would go on to be a protest anthem during the revolutionary 2020 #Endsars protests where protesters used it to hush Government Officials trying to talk to them.

M.I’s reaction wasn’t a natural one. Instead, as the astute businessman that he is, he responded to both of them, as well as a slew of others, in his song Beef, which was released alongside his album MI2.

9ice ft Seriki- Talk I am Listening

Ruggedman has been the subject of a number of diss songs, and it’s easy to see why.

There was controversy in 2010 between Ruggedman, 9ice, and Toni Payne (9ice’s wife at the time), which resulted in a leaked conversation, a barrage of accusations, and a slew of diss recordings.

But, of all the diss songs that have been released, this one has taken the cake.

With the help of Seriki, 9ice fully reversed the script on Ruggedman (his one-time mentor). It helped expose Seriki to the Nigerian hip-hop scene in certain ways.

Ruggedman eventually replied to the diss with “A Word Is Enuff For The 9ice” before the two went on to settle their differences and collaborate on several songs.

Davido has a reputation for helping the down and out. Whether it’s by adding them to his label or featuring in their songs.

Here’s a list of artists Davido has tried to help get out the mud, after scandals that took them down:

Dammy Krane

Dammy Krane

Davido signed the artist to DMW in 2016, Dammy Krane.

In retrospect, this came at the right time for Dammy Krane who got arrested for credit card fraud in June 2017.

Based on reports at the time, Dammy Krane was arrested in Florida for charges of theft, credit card scam and fraud. Tapjets, an American jet company alleged that the artist used five stolen credit cards to book a private jet.

He was later cleared of all charges, but the stigma stuck to him like glue.

In September 2019, Dammy Krane got accosted by police again, thus time in Nigeria, for charges of defamation and threat to life.

Although he pleaded not guilty, and was released on bail for the Nigerian case. Nigerians have not forgotten either of his stint with the police.

His career has taken a nosedive, and continues to submerge into irrelevance, despite Davido‘s help.

May D

May D

Recently signed by Davido, May D is one artist that has struggled to stay on top after he split from Jude Okoye’s record label.

SEE ALSO: Rudeboy shares thoughts on Jude Okoye, Cynthia Morgan and May D saga

He managed to stay afloat with songs like So Many Things but May D is getting much needed aid from Davido right now.

By joining DMW, May D is sure to get more notice and acclaim through the label, under Davido’s influence.

Sinzu

Sinzu

Sinzu is another artist that has been involved with the police, in the most unlikely way.

Unlike Dammy Krane however, Sinzu spent time in prison for 2 years for aggravated identity theft.

He was at Ada County Jail, Idaho from 2016 to 2018.

Davido added him to DMW in 2018, after Sinzu’s release from prison.

Cynthia Morgan

Cynthia Morgan

After she came out to explain her plight to the general public, Davido reached out to Cynthia Morgan, offering to get her out of her forlorn situation.

Few years ago, Cynthia Morgan was an artist of note. She had a rare talent and was using it well, until she wasn’t.

We suddenly stopped hearing about her, except for the occasional rumors of substance abuse and debt.

People couldn’t stop asking where she went to, and what happened to her.

SEE ALSO: Cynthian Morgan Slams Jude Okoye and Rudeboy Again

Those questions were left unanswered until this year, when she fessed up about her contract with Jude Okoye and all that happened behind the scenes.

Mp3bullet.ng is unsure if Cynthia Morgan has responded to Davido yet.

When you mention the Most Influential Artists in the Nigerian Music scene, Davido name must pop up. Despite the wealthy background from which the singer came from, he is one of Nigeria’s most consistent and hardworking artists.

In the short period since his breakthrough in the music industry, Davido has successfully pushed his brand in Nigeria and around the world and is one of Nigeria’s top three artists.

The Record Label Boss has left a legacy that will live on in perpetuity; his personal accomplishments cannot be exaggerated, and he has helped to put numerous Nigerian musicians on the international map.

The majority of individuals he put on the map have gone on to become megastars in their own right, although some have faded into the background as a result of different circumstances.

Let’s take a look at the categories of artists he helped/contributed to their music career;

Mayorkun is one of the few Nigerian Artists who get a chance at fame after their cover of another artist’s song gets viral.

Davido chanced upon him on social media signing to his “Money” song and invited him over a DM to his house and from there, it was history.

Mayorkun is one of the few artists in the DMW Family that bonds well with Davido and is even seen by many as his protege.

Peruzzi

Apart from being an amazing singer, Peruzzi is a talented songwriter which has earned him a valuable spot in the DMW Label. In fact, some of Davido’s hit songs from 2017 were written by him.

Although there has been a controversy as to how Peruzzi got signed by Davido, it hasn’t stopped the singer from flourishing.
Tekno is among those who have benefited from Davido in terms of a collaborative project.

Tekno became known and loved by music lovers after Davido featured in his 2014 hit single, Holiday. Davido’s star power heavily rode the song into the hearts of thousands of music lovers and made them fall in love with the equally talented Tekno.

Tekno would years later replicate the favour by writing and producing the award-winning and double Gold-certified “If“, one of Davido’s biggest song to date.

Humblesmith was gained a bit of fame with his gospel-like song, “Osinachi” but it got bigger after Davido jumped on the remix.

Davido got downloads and streams for Humblesmith by addressing his baby mama drama on the song.

No doubt Osinachi was the biggest hit song Humblesmith has released ever since then.

In 2017, he got arrested in the US on bank fraud charges and after completing his two-year jail term for aggravated identity theft, Not minding what people would say, Davido opened his arms wide to Sauce Kid and signed him to the DMW family.
