Nigerian street-pop star Shallipopi has expanded his growing catalogue with the release of “Allergies,” a new single that sees the Plutomania Records boss lean further into the witty storytelling and street-rooted sound that have become central to his appeal.

Shallipopi Delivers Another Street-Hop Gem With “Allergies”

The Edo-born hitmaker has built a reputation for transforming everyday conversations, street culture, and hustle narratives into chart-topping records. On Allergies, he once again taps into that formula, delivering a song that reflects his current mindset while maintaining the laid-back charisma that fans have come to expect.

Produced by Jazzman Beatz and Cooq, the track is driven by a dark and infectious instrumental that blends amapiano-inspired log drums with indigenous percussive elements. The production creates a hypnotic groove, balancing heavy basslines with spacious arrangements that allow Shallipopi’s distinctive vocal style to shine.

Rather than overcrowding the beat, the production leaves room for his conversational delivery, playful ad-libs, and effortless flow. The result is a record designed to thrive in nightlife settings, car speakers, and social media-driven dance moments.

At the centre of the song is the concept of boundaries and personal growth. Using the title Allergies as a metaphor, Shallipopi humorously outlines the habits, situations, and people he now chooses to avoid as his success continues to grow. The theme serves as a reflection on self-preservation, financial progress, and navigating changing relationships in the face of fame.

Lyrically, the singer relies heavily on the street slang, Pidgin expressions, and clever observations that have helped define his artistry. His delivery transforms personal experiences into relatable commentary, creating a record that feels both individual and communal at the same time.

With its infectious bounce, memorable one-liners, and street-savvy perspective, Allergies reinforces Shallipopi’s ability to connect with listeners through authenticity and humour. The single arrives as another strong addition to his catalogue and further cements his position as one of the most influential voices shaping contemporary street-pop culture.

The head of the Plutomania movement, Shallipopi, is back in his element with a fresh release titled “420,” a lively street anthem that arrives through Plutomania Records and ONErpm.

Shallipopi & Plutomania Lights Up the Streets With “420”

True to his lane, the record leans fully into that unmistakable street-pop energy he’s built his name on, blending a relaxed delivery with a bouncy, rhythm-heavy foundation that instantly feels familiar to his listeners.

From the jump, 420 carries that signature Plutomania flavor: laid-back but infectious, simple but cleverly styled. The production is stripped back just enough to let the groove breathe, with heavy basslines and minimalistic percussion giving space for Shallipopi’s playful “talk-singing” approach to sit right at the centre.

As always, he peppers his delivery with street-inspired metaphors and witty phrasing that make the record feel conversational, almost like he’s just vibing and narrating life as it comes.

The song also plays like a celebration of freedom and ease, loosely tied to the cultural “420” reference and the carefree lifestyle often associated with his music persona.

There’s no overthinking here—just pure vibe, attitude, and a sound that matches his “no stress” identity. That simplicity is exactly what makes it stick.

Clocking in at just under three minutes, 420 is clearly built for quick replaying, social media moments, and steady rotation on playlists and in clubs. Shallipopi continues to show a strong grasp of what connects instantly with his audience, crafting hooks that land fast and linger.

As he continues to expand the Plutomania imprint, this release doubles as another reminder that the captain himself still knows how to command the streets when he steps to the mic.

Listen to “420″ HERE

The 27th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) is set to celebrate Africa’s biggest hits, with Nigerian artists making a strong showing in the “African Song of the Year” category.

The nominations highlight the continued influence of Nigerian music across the continent. Last year, the award went to “Tshwala Bam” by people, “Titom,” “Nigerian singer,” and Burna Boy, which became a fan-favourite anthem.

For 2026, Davido leads the Nigerian entries with two notable nominations. His 2025 hit “With You,” featuring Omah Lay from the album 5ive, has garnered global acclaim, including a 2026 Grammy nomination. Davido also appears on “Nakupenda,” an energetic Amapiano track by South African duo TXC, featuring Shoday, Scotts Maphuma, Zlatan, and AL Xapo, blending Nigerian and South African sounds to create a standout contender.

Other Nigerian songs nominated in the category include Rema’s “Kelebu,” Fido’s “Joy Is Coming,” and “Laho II” by Shallipopi and Burna Boy. South African star Tyla is also nominated for her 2025 hit “Chanel.”

With a diverse lineup of songs spanning Afrobeats, Amapiano, and contemporary African pop, the competition promises to be fierce, showcasing the vibrancy and innovation of African music.

Nigeria’s music dominance once again took centre stage on Sunday night as the 9th edition of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) lit up the Eko Convention Centre, Lagos.

Hosted by rapper and actor Falz, the ceremony brought together Africa’s biggest stars for a night that celebrated sound, culture and continental excellence.

Stealing the spotlight was Rema, whose name echoed repeatedly through the hall after he emerged as one of the biggest winners of the evening.

The Afrobeats superstar clinched three major awards, underlining his growing influence across Africa and beyond. Rema was crowned Artiste of the Year, Best Male Artist in Western Africa, and Best African Artistin R&B and Soul, a clean sweep that set the tone for the night.

While Rema dominated individual honours, Burna Boy walked away with one of the ceremony’s most coveted prizes. The Grammy-winning star won Album of the Year for No Sign of Weakness, further cementing his status as one of Africa’s most consistent global exports.

Burna Boy also shared another moment of triumph through collaboration, picking up Best African Collaboration alongside Shallipopi.

Shallipopi had a memorable night of his own, adding Song of the Year to his growing list of accolades with his viral hit Laho. His wins reflected the increasing influence of street-pop sounds on the African music landscape.

Veteran rapper Phyno continued to represent African hip-hop proudly after winning Best African Artiste in African Hip-Hop. At the same time, Yemi Alade showcased her versatility by securing Best Soundtrack in a Movie, Series, or Documentary for her song You Are, featured in the animated series Iyanu.

The future of African music was also well represented. Rising star Qing Madi was named Most Promising Artist of the Year, edging out a competitive list of nominees including Cysoul, Joshua Baraka, King Luca, L’Oiseau Rare, Lwah Ndlunkulu, Massamba Amadeus, Rym, Kunmie, and Fola. Meanwhile, fast-rising singer Chella earned the crowd’s love after emerging African Fans’ Favourite.

Other Nigerian acts who recorded wins on the night include Yemi Alade, Qing Madi, Phyno and Chella, reinforcing Nigeria’s strong presence at the pan-African awards ceremony.

With electrifying performances, emotional acceptance speeches and a celebration of Africa’s diverse sounds, AFRIMA 2025 once again lived up to its reputation.

The Lagos-hosted ceremony not only honoured chart-toppers and rising stars but also told a bigger story — one of Africa’s music industry continuing to grow louder, bolder and more influential on the global stage.

For weeks, fans speculated about who would be joining the earlier-announced trio of Rema, Central Cee, and Moliy. Now, the suspense is over.
The organisers have dropped the complete list, and it reads like a who’s who of Afrobeats heavy-hitters, rising stars, and global collaborators.

Set for December 21 at the Eko Convention Centre, this year’s Rhythm Unplugged doesn’t just open Flytime Fest; it sets the tone for the entire Lagos holiday season.

The hype has been building since the moment Rema and UK rap sensation Central Cee were confirmed as headliners. Add Moliy into the mix, and fans already knew they were in for something special.

But the full reveal shows Flytime had an even bigger show in the works.

The 2025 edition brings together a fiery mix of chart-toppers, street kings, soulful voices, and fast-rising sensations the kind of blend that turns a concert into a cultural moment.

Here’s the full artist lineup for Rhythm Unplugged 2025:

Rema

Central Cee

Moliy

BNXN (Buju)

Shallipopi

Smada

BLNDE

Chella

Famous Pluto

FOLA

Mavo

Odumodublvck

Shoday

Zaylevelten

Zerrydl

With Coca-Cola as the headline sponsor and Flytime at the helm, this year’s show is already shaping up to be one of the hottest tickets of December.

Tickets are on sale now via Flytime Fest’s official platforms and partner outlets, and if previous years are anything to go by, they won’t last long.

The annual ranking highlights the rich diversity of Nigerian music, from spiritually charged visuals to high-energy street anthems that captured millions of eyes and ears across the country.

Topping the list is the gospel hit “No Turning Back II” by Gaise Baba & Lawrence Oyor. The song’s powerful message of revival and spiritual reassurance struck a chord nationwide, pushing it past major Afrobeats releases to become the most-watched video of the year.

Afrobeats heavyweights also made a strong showing, with names like Shallipopi, Davido, Asake, Olamide, Wizkid, Rema, and Burna Boy dominating key spots in the top ten.

Their videos reflect both the genre’s global appeal and the local audience’s appetite for energetic, visually compelling music.

This past Saturday, the 2025 TikTok Awards Sub-Saharan Africa saw Nigerian creators assert their dominance, securing six out of the ten category wins in a night that celebrated the theme “New Era, New Icons“.

Shallipopi has stepped into a new era with the release of AURACLE, a sprawling 22-track album that feels less like a project and more like a proclamation.

With this release, the Edo-born star completes the trilogy he unknowingly began with Planet Pluto, carried through Presido La Pluto, and sharpened on Shakespopi.

Shallipopi Completes His Trilogy With New Album ‘AURACLE’

If those earlier works were him breaking into the mansion of Nigerian music, Auracle is him rearranging the furniture comfortably and confidently, like the rightful owner.

The title itself, a fusion of aura and oracle, hints at what he wants the world to understand: his rise isn’t a coincidence; it’s prophecy made manifest.

Across its lengthy runtime, Shallipopi doubles down on the “Afro-pluto” formula that catapulted him to fame, with amapiano log drums rumbling beneath playful, nursery-rhyme hooks and streetwise musings delivered in his signature relaxed drawl.

But this time, the sound carries a sheen that wasn’t there before. Auracle is louder, richer, and more finely sculpted than the lo-fi chaos that defined his early jams.

The production leans heavily into hypnotic repetition, yet the mixing and mastering add a new level of sophistication. Take “Laho,” for instance; the lead single pulses with complex synth layers that push his sonic universe into something more futuristic, more intergalactic.

Even with the upgrades, the edges aren’t completely smoothed out; that gritty authenticity remains, preserving the street-born appeal at the heart of Shallipopi’s artistry. It’s a careful dance between polish and rawness, one that surprisingly sustains the weight of 22 tracks.

Then come the features, which speak louder than any press release.
On HIM, Atlanta rapper Gunna slides in seamlessly, merging trap sensibilities with Nigerian street-hop so effortlessly you’d think both worlds were always meant to collide.

And on the remix of Laho, Burna Boy arrives like a king blessing a rising prince. Burna’s gravelly command contrasts Shallipopi’s airy delivery, forming an irresistible push-and-pull that is destined to dominate December parties.

These collaborations don’t feel like attempts at global visibility; they feel like global validation of a sound only he could have created.

Lyrically, Shallipopi still operates in that enigmatic pocket where simple lines become cultural mantras. His Benin-infused slang, his street-coded poetry, and his offhanded chants are not meant to be dissected on paper. They’re meant to be felt.

Yet Auracle also reveals flashes of introspection: the pressure of fame, shifting friendships, sudden wealth, and the loneliness that hides behind loud success.

He knows his style alienates purists, and he has come to terms with that. The album feels like a message to his loyal fanbase—the “Plutomanias”—assuring them that he’s still speaking directly to them, not to the critics.

In the end, Auracle plays like a victory lap stretched into a full marathon. Even with a few tracks that don’t hit as hard, the highs are sky-level.

The album reinforces what his fans already believe: the Pluto movement wasn’t a fluke, a flash, or a trend. It’s a permanent shift in the Afrobeats ecosystem.

Shallipopi didn’t just enter the game—he built his own universe. And with AURACLE, the Presido remains firmly in office. The polls? Still rising.
