According to newly released rankings tracking career awards across local and international platforms, Grammy winner Wizkid sits comfortably at the summit with an impressive 197 awards, making him the most awarded African music act to date.

His longtime contemporary, Davido, follows in second place with 150 career awards, cementing his status as one of Africa’s most consistent hitmakers.

The list reflects the growing global reach of African music, with artists from West, East, and Central Africa all making strong appearances. Ghanaian rap heavyweight Sarkodie claims third place with 121 awards, while Nigeria’s Burna Boy comes in just behind him with 120 accolades. With fresh nominations and recent wins still rolling in, Burna Boy’s tally is expected to rise further.

Also representing Ghana is dancehall star Shatta Wale, who ranks fifth with 115 awards, closely followed by his compatriot Stonebwoy, who has earned 107 awards throughout his career.

East Africa’s influence is felt through Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platnumz, who crosses the 100-award mark with 101 honours, highlighting his impact beyond the region. Veteran Beninese singer and multiple Grammy winner Angélique Kidjo also features among the elite, boasting over 100 career awards, while Congolese music sensation Fally Ipupa completes the top nine with 96 awards.

The ranking not only celebrates individual success but also tells a broader story of Africa’s rising cultural power, as its artists continue to command global stages and recognition.

Ghanaian rap legend Sarkodie has opened up about how he manages to stay mentally balanced despite the constant waves of online criticism and social media chaos that come with fame.

In a thoughtful post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, October 15, 2025, the “Non Living Thing” crooner revealed that his peace of mind largely comes from being intentional about what he consumes online.

According to him, the secret lies in tuning out the noise and focusing only on things that truly matter.

“It’s crazy how I pick and choose where to channel my energy. I can go 10 years scrolling past ‘unnecessary’ stories, videos, etc., on social media without ever clicking to watch or read them. I only come online for what I’m truly interested in, try it, it’s beautiful,” he shared.

The rapper’s post came shortly after his electrifying Kumasi concert, which drew thousands of fans and featured performances from several top Ghanaian artists.

While the show earned widespread praise for its production and energy, it also sparked mixed reactions online, a typical occurrence for one of Ghana’s most talked-about entertainers.

Sarkodie’s message appeared to serve as a subtle response to the post-event noise, emphasizing the importance of guarding one’s mental space in an era dominated by online opinions.

For an artist who has spent over a decade at the top of Africa’s rap scene, his words resonate deeply. In an age where social media often amplifies negativity, Sarkodie’s philosophy of digital discipline stands out as both refreshing and instructive.

His post, simple yet profound, underscores a broader truth: sometimes, peace isn’t found by silencing others but by choosing what you give your attention to.

Fans of Ghanaian rap icon Sarkodie were left puzzled in recent days after noticing that two of his albums, Jamz and No Pressure, had suddenly vanished from major digital streaming platforms.

The disappearance sparked widespread speculation online, with some suggesting that the rapper might have sold his catalogue. However, Sarkodie has now addressed the issue, assuring fans that the albums will soon be back online.

Speaking during an Instagram Live session on September 1, 2025, Sarkodie revealed that the albums were taken down due to a technical hiccup during a distribution switch.

“So what is happening is we are doing a re-upload with a new distribution channel. We have a new partnership… but it was supposed to be very smooth, and that couldn’t happen.

So now we took it down, and we have to re-upload. I’m really pushing the team to get it back on. Don’t worry guys,” he explained.

The rapper clarified further that the removal was entirely linked to a transition between distribution partners, stressing that the process “did not go as smoothly as expected.”

Despite the temporary setback, Sarkodie reassured fans that both albums will soon return to streaming platforms, urging supporters to remain patient as his team finalizes the re-upload.

After weeks of eager anticipation, the nominees for the 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) have finally been unveiled, setting the stage for one of Ghana’s most prestigious music events in 2025.

The grand announcement was made on Saturday, March 15, 2025, through a live broadcast on TV3 and streamed across the official social media pages of the Ghana Music Awards, ensuring fans worldwide could tune in.

Scheduled for May 3, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Center, this year’s TGMA promises fierce competition as Ghana’s top artists battle for the most coveted accolades in the industry.

The road to TGMA 2025 officially kicked off on January 21, 2025, when nominations opened. Charterhouse, the event organizers, received an overwhelming response, with over 1,500 submissions from more than 130 artists and music groups, spanning a variety of genres. A panel of industry professionals meticulously reviewed the entries, ensuring a rigorous and transparent selection process.

However, the most coveted awards—referred to as the “Big 5″—always spark the most excitement and debate. This year’s nominees for these highly anticipated categories are:

From the first beat, Next Door captures attention. Ugly & Tough produced the song, which has pulsating dancehall beats, rich Afro-Caribbean undertones, and an addictive hook that makes it tough to sit still. Next Door provides the energy required for movement, whether at a club, at a party, or just hanging out with friends.

Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale recently took aim at Sarkodie during a TikTok Live session, criticizing the rapper’s choice of a Porsche Panamera as his dream cars

Sarkodie has frequently mentioned this luxury vehicle in his music, expressing his admiration for it. However, Shatta Wale questioned the practicality of this choice, dismissing it as unwise.

Shatta Wale shared that he prefers not to spend money on expensive cars, instead focusing on investing in real estate.

He boasted about the number of houses he has built, emphasizing that, in his view, real estate is a more valuable investment than cars.

He argued that cars hold little significance for him, despite having purchased several over the years, including multiple Range Rovers, a Benz, and a Land Cruiser. He implied that these vehicles are not true assets, as they tend to depreciate in value over time.

Panamera be your dream car? Shatta Wale questions Sarkodie and brags about buying several houses but despite his wealth, he won't buy expensive cars like a Lamborghini, Bugatti, or Rolls Royce to impress anyone. pic.twitter.com/GUr5VpxEdz

Whenever these two A-list artists clash, they capture the public’s attention, often leading to the release of diss tracks. Shatta Wale previously targeted Sarkodie in a diss track titled “Little Tip,” where he fiercely criticized the rapper. Sarkodie responded with “Advice,” a track widely regarded as a more powerful retort.

Since then, Shatta Wale has seized every opportunity to attack Sarkodie, as well as other musicians. Sarkodie, however, has been more restrained in his responses, often using music collaborations to subtly address Shatta Wale’s remarks. Known for his naturally reserved demeanor, Sarkodie rarely responds directly to his critics.

Nigerian rapper Vector appears to have downplayed the recent rap feud involving Sarkodie and Dremo.

In a statement, Vector reportedly commented, “I don’t have any thoughts about what Sarkodie said.” Regarding fellow Ghanaian rapper Dremo, who has also engaged in the exchange, Vector remarked, “Dremo can take swipes if he wants to.”

The tension between the rappers escalated after a Sarkodie song that some Nigerians interpreted as disrespectful towards Nigerian artists. Sarkodie clarified that he was merely referencing well-known Nigerian musicians and denied any disrespect.

Recall, Sarkodie stirred up controversy with his track, “Brag,” where he doesn’t hold back, targeting big names like Davido, Wizkid, and Burna Boy.

Released on May 10, 2024, the song has ignited heated debates among music enthusiasts, especially in Nigeria. In the track, Sarkodie claims credit for paving the way for Nigerian acts and places himself alongside Grammy-winner Burna Boy and Ghanaian rapper Black Sherif.

The bold assertions in “Brag” have sparked intense discussions about rivalry and influence within the music industry.

He said: “Wizkid came when I was already doing it, Davido came when I was already improving “ Sark Fires shots at Wizkid and Davido as he demands some respect

“Odowgu came through Black Sherif to Asake, Crazy some people think I’m losing it. My biggest Competition is Kendrick and J Cole “ Sark Fires more shots at Mi Abaga , Burna and Jovi”
