It appears that things are not going well at Sarkodie and Samini’s camp after the latter openly rejected a fan’s request to collaborate on a project.

Samini, whose real name is Emmanuel Andrews Samini, has publicly stated that he will never work with rapper Sarkodie.

When a Tweep asked when the Dancehall Legend will feature Sarkodie, Samini said that it would never happen.

The president of the GIMPA SRC claims that he is unsure whether he will ever require a verse from renowned rapper Sarkodie.

He continued by saying that he would not be interested in working with Sark even if he ever sought him out. He gave Sarkodie’s reluctance to come to a firm decision as the justification for his stubborn attitude.

Furthermore, Samini asserted that while creating his Blazing EP, he asked Sarkodie about a feature.

Regrettably, Sarkodie, a.k.a. Michael Owusu Addo, was unsure of himself. My Project was delayed, he claimed, since he couldn’t say yes or no.

Ghanaian superstar Livingstone Etse Satekla who is widely known as Stonebwoy has claimed to be the one who introduced afro-dancehall music to the rest of the world.

One of the musical styles that is truly bringing attention to the African continent around the world is afro-dancehall.

Afro-dancehall has been popularized internationally by artists like The Buffalo Souljah, Orezi from Nigeria, Samini, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, and Mzvee from Ghana.

According to Stonebwoy, he alone is responsible for popularizing afro-dancehall.

In a Citi 97.3fm interview with AJ Sarpong, Stonebwoy said: “I’ve performed alongside Shaggy, Bounty killer, Richard Stevens, Alpha Blondy, and more. I’m promoting afro-dancehall… I sold it to the world. Oh, I am”

BET winner Bhim will perform on December 23, 2022. In response to a query about scheduling a gig in Jamaica, ‘Run Go’ singer said: “That would be great, God willing. It costs a lot to host a concert there, but it can be done. I’ll get there gradually when I play in Jamaica next month.

On December 24, the “Citituation Outdoor Concert” will take place at the La Palm Beach Hotel.

Stonebwoy, Akwaboah, Abiana, and Praye will perform during the event. The BhimNation President confirmed his performance and promised a fantastic show.

The ‘Citiuaton Outdoor Party’ is organized yearly by Citi TV/Citi FM in lieu of the December 2 Rememba event, which brings together revellers for the greatest of entertainment.

The organizers of the  Ghana music awards have announced the full list of nominees ahead of the event scheduled to take place on the 29th of October 2022.

The complete list of nominees for the 2022 edition of the yearly Ghana Music Awards UK has finally been released.

On Friday, July 1, 2022, the announcement was made at a festive event hosted by well-known media figures Doreen Avio and Blaque Boy at the Omanye Hall, Labadi Beach Hotel.

Top performers from the entertainment industry attended the announcement party. The 2022 edition of the GMA UK happens to be the 6th edition. The main award will come off on Saturday, October 29, 2022.

The MTV Europe Music Awards honour pop culture’s artists and music. Every year, the Europe Music Awards are held in a new country.

Since 2005, it has offered a Best African Act category to honour the best and most successful crossover African artist of the previous year.

Since its inception, the category has been won seven times by Nigerian musicians. But who are these Nigerian artists, and when did they receive these honours? Take a look at the list below;

2Baba

Formerly known as 2Face Idibia, 2Baba trailblazing solo debut album, Face2Face, was released in 2005, and to date, it is one of the best solo debut albums in Nigerian music since 1999.

The song ‘African Queen‘ off the project became so popular that it was featured in the American film Phat Girls.

He was certainly Africa’s MVP when he earned the honour, with worldwide and local plaudits to match. He became the first Nigerian artist to win the prestigious category.

He defeated Kaysha, Kleptomaniax, 02, and Zamajobe to win the award.

D’banj

D’Banj’s sophomore album, Rundown, was released in 2006 and featured the chart-topping single “Why Me.”

Alongside Don Jazzy’s sonic revolution, which he fused with his talent, D’banj shook the entire African soundscape. He wasn’t just a performer; he was a showman as well.

He won his first EMA in 2007. Nobody was surprised when he won this award over Chameleone, Hip-hop Pantsula, Jua Cali, Samini, and Big Pin.

However that wasn’t the last time as in 2012 he bagged the award again after he changed the game with Nigeria’s first crossover pop record of the modern era, ‘Oliver Twist‘ months before.

He beat Camp Mulla, Mi Casa, Sarkodie and Wizkid to the award.

Davido

Davido signed a deal with Sony Music via Columbia Records in 2016 and embarked on his first worldwide tour, which culminated in hit singles like “Fans Mi” featuring Meek Mill, “Coolest Kid In Africa” featuring Nasty C, “How Long” starring Tinashe, and “Pere” featuring Young Thug and Rae Sremmurd.

It resulted in the Son of Mercy EP, which Davido has admitted to despising. Nonetheless, the DMW Label boss received some attention as a result of it.

He had one of the most successful one-year runs in current Nigerian music in 2017, with four hit singles. ‘Fall‘ and ‘IF‘ have since received Gold certification in the United States.

With his achievements, he defeated Babes Wodumo, C4 Pedro, Nasty C, Nyashinki, and Wizkid to win the MTV EMA award in 2017.

Tiwa Savage

Tiwa Savage and her ex-husband, Tunji Balogun, had a publicized divorce battle in 2017. Sugarcane EP was her comeback, and it was one of the most spectacular comebacks in contemporary Nigerian music. She then released the single ‘Get It,’ which featured Omarion.

In 2018, Savage headlined her first sold-out event at London’s 02 Arena and was named on Vogue’s World 100.

That same year, she gained her first MTV EMA making her the first and only solo female winner of the award, beating out Davido, Distruction Boyz, Fally Ipupa, Nyashinski, and Shekinah.

Burna Boy

In 2019, Burna Boy has successfully conquered his tribulations and became Africa’s MVP, serving as the poster boy for the ‘Afrobeats to the World’ conversation.

Later that year, he released African Giant, a potential classic, which earned him his first Grammy nomination. He had previously released Outside, which had singles such as ‘Ye,’ ‘Heaven’s Gate’, ‘Giddem’, ‘Devil in Californa.’

He received four honours at the Soundcity MVP in January of that year, the BET Best International Act Award in June, and was featured on Beyonce’s Lion King: The Gift with his own song.

After that, he embarked on his spectacular African Giant Tour, which included a performance at Coachella following an infamous social media spat, and he triumphed in every way.

He also became the fifth Nigerian artist to win an MTV EMA in the Best African Act category.

Wizkid

In 2016, Wizkid achieved international recognition following his collaboration with Drake on the hit single “One Dance“, which reached number-one on the US Billboard Hot 100, and topped the charts in 14 additional countries.

The song broke multiple records, making Wizkid the first Afrobeats artist to appear in the Guinness World Records.

That same year he won his first MTV EMA beating out Black Coffee, Cassper Nyovest, Olamide and Ali Kiba.

Following a postponement due to the #EndSARS demonstrations in 2020, Wizkid released Made In Lagos to lukewarm acclaim, which has since evolved into much-needed praise. He has not only made one of the best comebacks in Nigerian music history, but he has also broken records.

He has since produced a Billboard Hot 100 top ten single, charted in multiple countries across the world, won BET and MOBO awards, received six Soul Train Award nominations, been a Grammy season favourite, headlined his first American tour to acclaim, and become a global superstar.

Winning his second MTV EMA in 2021 was just another bonus in his heavy bag of achievements.

Samini and his former signee, Stonebwoy, have had numerous social media feuds in the past over a variety of subjects.

Confirming media rumours, Samini told George Quaye on Showbiz A to Z Saturday that he and Stonebwoy were not in the best of places as a family.

“I can honestly say on Joy FM that I am too old to sit here and lie or throw dust in people’s eyes or fake. My younger brother and I aren’t as nice as we used to be or as I used to know him because of certain occurrences that I did not expect during or along the line in our careers when he had become independent.”

The ‘Obaa‘ hitmaker previously revealed how he met the Bhim Nation leader back in the day and how he felt about him.

According to the ‘Obra‘ singer, Stonebwoy was introduced to him by his dancers when he expressed an interest in meeting him.

“It started from a soft spot. I had met a lad that had all it took to blow. He was brought to me backstage by my dancers, we vibed and then he said that he lives in Ashaiman and because of his and leg, his dad doesn’t like it when he goes out and returns late, but he will like to hang out in Dansoman with us.

“So if I will take him home so that his family can believe he comes to me and knows me. I drove to Ashaiman, met the family, and told them if he wasn’t with them, he was with me in Dansoman. His mom and dad took me as their son, so also took him as a brother.”

However, as with any family, there were occasional frictions in the two artists’ relationship.

Samini revealed that the goal of his company, Samini Music, at the time was to get Stonebwoy to a stage where he could stand on his own.

He went on to say that, while their split was amicable, there were still issues he wasn’t ready to discuss.

“I would say it was amicable and professional. I would not go into the nitty-gritty of why we parted ways, how and what influenced it. But, yes, there were internal problems; I believe he had internal problems, with a few issues here and there.

“I have an encounter that happened that maybe one day if he wants to talk about it or tell Ghanaians what he did, he would. So that was the breaking point for me as a bigger brother who was observing and feeling a certain way when making a certain move. So we had to part ways nicely so that we can always be in a good relationship.”

Stonebwoy, according to Samini, had made attempts to contact him and resolve issues.

In an interview, Sarkodie expressed concern about how Ghanaians allow records to slip through their fingers, giving the impression that Ghanaian artists are being left behind when it comes to going global.

“we let go easily and tend to frustrate ourselves, we need to highlight our moments,” he said.

Sarkodie noted on Hitz 103.9 FM’s Day Break show that a number of Ghanaians have attended the BET Awards and earned other international records, but that because it isn’t widely publicised, people tend to forget about it, making it appear as though Ghanaian talents aren’t working.

“We have done incredibly well but we still look out there for what other people are doing, I am not saying we should be comfortable but at least Ghanaians should just appreciate these moments, we have done things and still doing more,” the rapper told Andy Dosty.

Quoting an example, he said, ” I remember when BET was posting Burna Boy selling out the Apollo, they said the first Afrobeat artist to sell out the Apollo, you see it’s because we don’t hold on to it, I did it before him”.

According to the Rapper, “there are a lot of things we have done before everybody but we have left them unsaid, Fuse ODG has done a lot but we just want to skip look at what someone is doing and highlighting”.

Sarkodie, who recently released his sixth studio album, “No Pressure,” played at the famed New York City Apollo Theater in August 2015, where he was joined by Banky W, Samini, E.L., Shatta Wale, The Compozers, Kwaw Kese, and Bisa Kdei.

Burna Boy also performed at the Apollo Theater, which was sold out, but Sarkodie is claiming that he (King Sark) did it first, before the ‘African Giant’ singer.
