Six-time Grammy Award winner Angélique Kidjo is one of the greatest artists in the international music community and here she served the world with her 18th studio album titled ‘Mother Nature’ collaborative projects.

‘Mother Nature’ album is somewhat influenced by Nigerian creatives and antics of the country in the African space, from the top artists to the producers, like Rexxie and Kel P producing some of the important tracks from the album.

Dignity feat. Yemi Alade

On the official single off the album, “Dignity,” Kidjo and Nigerian singer-songwriter Yemi Alade connected so effortlessly and sync with laidback vocal lining singing about the women they’ve become and for the empowerment of women, also praises who raised them, their voices weaving between pop and Afrobeat infused.

arranged peacefully in a call and response between the two, the track hangs on the impassioned refrain, “Respect is reciprocal” as an anthem of female empowerment, the message is understated but resolute.

Africa, One of a Kind feat. Mr Eazi and Salif Keita

On “Africa, One of a Kind,” Nigerian superstar and Banku singer Mr Eazi joins Malian  Grammy Award winner and legendary Salif Keita to reimagine Keita’s 1995 song “Africa.”

Where some write songs to represent area codes or neighbourhoods, Angélique Kidjo, Keita, and Mr Eazi address those who claim allegiance to the entirety or whole of the continent, celebrating a pan-Africanist pride and love that recognizes no borders.

However, these cross-generational collaborations give the album much of its power.

Omon Oba

“Omon Oba,” with appearances by Beninese artists Lionel Loueke and Zeynab, takes its old-school feel from Zimbabwean township music pioneered in the early 1930s, and “Take It or Leave It” is unmistakably influenced by the urbane tones of highlife, with an amusingly frank verse courtesy of EarthGang’s Olu.

Talented Béné Republic icon, Angelique Kidjo once again proves her relentless musical prowess, as she releases her anticipated album, titled “Mother Nature.”

Mother Nature is Angélique’s first album of original music in 7 years, following 2019’s Grammy-winning Celia, and her 2018 radical reimagining of Talking Heads’ landmark LP Remain In Light.

On this project, she features Yemi Alade, Mr Eazi, Salif Keita, Burna Boy, Shungudzo, Zeynab, Lionel Loueke, Sampa The Great, Blue Lab Beats, Ghetto Boy, EARTHGANG, and -M-.

Producers that worked on the album include Kel P (Burna Boy), James Poyser of The Roots, Vtek, Rexxie, Synematik, Blue Lab Beats, -M-, Brad Thomas Ackley, David Donatien and Dany Synthé.  As a matter of fact, she began writing it in 2019 and it was created over the past year in quarantine.

She says the album has been long overdue—“I’ve had this album in me somehow since 1993,” she says—but with the pandemic lockdown, “I had the luxury of time to spread my wings and to do the music the way I wanted, without stressing

This was disclosed by Angelique Kidjo in a recent interview on Apple Music’s “Africa Now” on Monday, June 14th, 2021.

Mr Eazi sent Angelique a DM, stating that he had the music for her, Angelique told the host, LOOTLOVE.

The song had a sample from a song by legendary Malian musician, Salif Keita and Angelique insisted he must be part of the song.

“Mr Eazi was the one that sent me a DM. He said Mama I have a song for you. He sent the song and of course, Salif’s voice was sampled.

An I was like, oh, that’s what I’m talking about. All that transmission is the backbone of our history. Our history is not written, you know?

When I received the song and I recorded it, I said to myself, why use a sample? Salif is there. He can sing. He asked me if I’m sure Salif gonna sing, he said he doesn’t wanna sing anymore. I said he can’t say no to me.”

Angelique Kidjo’s song ‘Africa, One Of A Kind,‘ featuring Mr Eazi and Salif Keita, is taken from her upcoming album ‘Mother Nature.’ The album is set to be released on Friday, June 18th, 2021. In the spirit of celebrating Africa Day, talented songstress, Angelique Kidjo releases an amazing single titled Africa, One Of A Kind.

As a matter of fact, this track features Nigerian leading superstar, Mr Eazi and veteran Mali singer, Salif Keita.

According to Kidjo, “Africa, One of A Kind” is dedicated to the motherland, “Africa”; which has a fusion of three languages, Bambara, English (Nigerian Pidgin), and Yoruba.

Accompanied by the song comes the wonderful video, filmed in Benin and also features Salif Keita as a special guest. The dance is the Gogbahoun from my village Ouidah!!!

Prior to the song, Mr Eazi quotes that “This is the most important song I have done to date.” Mr. Eazi has composed for us such an amazing duet, an ode to our beloved African continent.

YouTube and ViacomCBS Networks Africa, with Idris Elba, have announced further additions to the “Africa Day Benefit Concert At Home” lineup.

The concert will be streamed on the MTV Base Africa YouTube channel on Monday, May 25 at 18:00 CAT and broadcast on the network’s TV channels in Africa at 21:00 CAT.

The two-hour special will raise funds to support food and health needs for children and families in Africa affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, through the World Food Programme and UNICEF.

The concert will feature special messages from Trevor Noah, globally acclaimed comedian, author and host of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah”; reigning Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi, renowned American actor Omari Hardwick, American rapper and actor Ludacris, multiple award-winning artiste Sean Paul, R&B singer Anthony Hamilton, UN Goodwill Ambassador and actress Nomzamo Mbatha, multi-talented rapper and actor, Fat Joe, and leading actor Winston Duke.

The show will bring together a powerful lineup of performances from some of the most talented artists in Africa with the addition of Afrobeats superstars Davido (Nigeria), Burna Boy (Nigeria), Bebe Cool (Uganda), Busiswa (South Africa), Adekunle Gold (Nigeria), C4 Pedro (Angola), Reekado Banks (Nigeria), M.anifest (Ghana), Niniola (Nigeria), Salif Keita (Mali), DJ Maphorisa & KABZA De Small (South Africa) and Toofan (Togo).
